Removal of the Engine 2 Yellow Hydraulic Pump Delivery Check Valve


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-36-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
Subtask 29-13-36-941-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the connection between the pressure hose and the fluid disconnect panel to collect the remaining fluid.
Subtask 29-13-36-941-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the ENG 2 switch is in the OFF position
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 2 shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the HYD section of the panel 40VU.
   (4) On the ENG section of the panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC/GND/PWR 2 pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC system.
   (6) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the connection below the check valve.
Subtask 29-13-36-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Get Access
   (1) Open the left fan-cowl door 447AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
Subtask 29-13-36-010-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Get Access
   (1) Open the left fan-cowl door 447AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-36-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Check Valve
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE CHECK VALVE AS THE HYDRAULIC FLUID WILL FLOW OUT.
   (1) Hold the check valve (1) with a wrench and disconnect the hose (2).
   (2) Put PLUG - BLANKING on the disconnected hose (2) and on the check valve (1).
   (3) Remove the check valve (1) with the O-ring (3) from the panel (4).

   (4) Put blanking plugs on the panel port (4) and on the check valve (1).
