Removal of the Engine 2 Thrust Reverser Check Valve


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-35-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
Subtask 29-13-35-941-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the connection between the pressure hose (2) and the fluid disconnect panel (4) to collect the remaining fluid.
   (7) Put a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) below the connection of the pipe (4) with the check valve (3).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the left fan-cowl door 447AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make the thrust reverser system unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
Subtask 29-13-35-941-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
E. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the ENG MASTER control panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the ENG 2 switch is in the OFF position
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 2.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 2 shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the HYD section of the panel 40VU.
   (4) On the ENG section of the panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC/GND/PWR 2 pushbutton switch is off
  • put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC system.
   (5) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the check valve (3) to collect the hydraulic fluid.
   (6) Put a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) below the connection of the pipe (4) with the check valve (3).
Subtask 29-13-35-010-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F. Get Access
   (1) Open the left fan-cowl door 447AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-35-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Check Valve
   (1) Hold the check valve (3) with a wrench and disconnect the pipe (4).
   (2) Put a PLUG - BLANKING on the pipe (4) and on the check valve (3).
   (3) Remove the check valve (3) with the O-ring (2) from the panel (1).
   (4) Put a blanking plug on the panel (1) and on the check valve (3).
