Removal of the Engine-Pump Pressure Switch

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001)
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
   (3) Make sure that the flaps are in the fully retracted position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.
   (2) Open access door 197CB.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • On the HYD section of panel 40VU
  • On the ground-service panel of the Green hydraulic system.
   (4) Open access door 195BB:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system.
   (5) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
   (6) On FLAPS panel 114VU:
  • Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.

D. Remove the rear pylon fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 54-54-00-000-802).

E. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the rear pylon.
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Engine-Pump Pressure Switch
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the pressure switch to collect the remaining fluid.
   (2) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the pressure switch (2).
   (3) Put CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connector (1).
   (4) At the pressure-switch port of the manifold (4), install a WRENCH - CROWFOOT on the flats to hold the manifold (4)
   (5) Remove the pressure switch (2).
   (6) Remove and discard the packing (3).
   (7) Put CAP - BLANKING on the pressure switch (2) and to the pressure-switch port of the manifold (4).
