3. Job Set-up
Subtask 27-21-00-010-063-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the access door 312AR.
   (2) Open the access door 312AR.
   (3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 10M (33 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 325.
   (4) Open the access panels 325AL and 325BL at the trailing edge of the vertical stabilizer.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002)
   (2) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).
   (3) On the overhead panel 23VU, 24VU, make sure that the ELAC1, ELAC2 pushbutton switches are pushed (the OFF and FAULT legends of these pushbutton switches are off).
   (4) On the center pedestal, on the panel 110VU, make sure that the RUD TRIM indicator shows 0.
   (5) Put the warning notices on CAPT and F/O pedals to tell persons not to use the rudder.
   (6) Put the warning notice on panel 110VU to tell persons not to use the rudder trim.
   (7) Install the 98D27207548000 PIN-RIGGING or 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET (1) on the mixer (2) of the artificial feel unit.
Install the 98D27207547000 PIN-RIGGING or 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET (3) on the cable quadrant (4).
4. Procedure
Subtask 27-21-00-840-050-A
A. Removal/Installation of the Control Rod on the Rudder Mechanical Control
   (1) Removal of the control rod (5):
     (a) Cut and discard the cotter pins (6).
     (b) Remove the nuts (7) and (14) and the washers (8) and (13).
     (c) Remove the bolt (11) from the control rod (5) on the mixer (2) side.
     (d) Remove the 98D27207547000 PIN-RIGGING or the 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET (3) from the cable quadrant (4).
     (e) Move the control rod (5) up to remove the lower bolt (10) easily.
     (f) Remove the control rod (5).
     (g) Installation of the lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Temporarily safety the sliding bushes (9) and (12) in the flanged bushes of the control rod (5) with the lockwire corrosion resistant steel dia 0.8 mm (0.03 in.).
     (h) Remove the 98D27207548000 PIN-RIGGING or the 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET (1) from the mixer (2).
     (i) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
     (j) Refer to the initial procedure.
   (2) Installation of the control rod (5):
     (a) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).
     (b) Install the 98D27207548000 PIN-RIGGING or the 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET (1) on the mixer (2).
     (c) Removal of the lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Cut and discard the lockwire that temporarily safeties the sliding bushes (9) and (12) in the flanged bushes of the control rod (5).
     (d) Connect the lower rod end of the control rod (5) to the cable quadrant (4) with the bolt (10). If necessary, move the cable quadrant (4) to install the bolt (10) easily.
     (e) Install the 98D27207547000 PIN-RIGGING or the 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET (3) on the cable quadrant (4).
     (f) Connect the upper rod end of the control rod (5) to the mixer (2) with the bolt (11).
     (g) Install the washers (8) and (13), the nuts (7) and (14) and tighten them.
     (h) Install the new AIPC 27-21-04-21-120 COTTER PINS (6) or the AIPC 27-21-84-08-010 COTTER PINS (6).
     (i) Remove the
98D27207548000 PIN-RIGGING or the 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET (1) and the 98D27207547000 PIN-RIGGING (3) or the 98D27207516000 PIN-RIGGING,SET.
     (j) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).

B. Do the operational test of the rudder hydraulic actuation (Ref. AMM TASK 27-24-00-710-001).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Close the access panels 325AL, 325BL.
   (2) Close the access door 312AR.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
