NOTE: The spring housing must be below the strap on the LH side and on top of the strap on the RH side.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 25-65-41-860-050-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft is in the same configuration as for the removal task.
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-65-41-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation:
   (1) If you install a replacement drum unit:
     (a) Put the drum unit (9) in position on the base plate (13).
     (b) Install and tighten the screws (8).
   (2) Put the assembly of drum unit (9) and base plate (13) in position at the passenger/crew door.
     (a) For type-A safety-barrier straps:
       1 Make sure that you install the assembly of drum unit (9) and base plate (13) correctly. The strap (7) must unwind across the front of the drum unit (9).
     (b) For type-B safety-barrier straps:
       1 On the left side, make sure that the spring housing (10) is below the strap (7).
       2 On the right side, make sure that the spring housing (10) is on top of the strap (7).
   (3) Make sure that the loop end (14) points inboard.
   (4) Install and tighten the screws (11) and the washers (12).
   (5) Pull the loop end (14), but do not fully extend the safety barrier strap (7), and hold it.
   (6) Put the strap guide support (6) in position and release the loop end (14).
   (7) Install and tighten the screws (4) and the washers (5).
   (8) If you install the latch hook (3):
     (a) Put the latch hook (3) in position.
     (b) Install and tighten the screws (1) and the washers (2).
Subtask 25-65-41-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation:
   (1) If you install a replacement drum unit:
     (a) Put the drum unit (9) in position on the base plate (14).
     (b) Install and tighten the screws (8).
   (2) Put the drum unit (9) in position at the passenger/crew door.
     (a) For type-A safety-barrier straps:
       1 Make sure that you install the assembly of drum unit (9) and base plate (14) correctly. The strap (7) must unwind across the front of the drum unit (9).
     (b) For type-B safety-barrier straps:
       1 On the left side, make sure that the spring housing (10) is below the strap (7).
       2 On the right side, make sure that the spring housing (10) is on top of the strap (7).
   (3) Make sure that the loop end (15) points inboard.
   (4) Install and tighten the screws (12) and the washers (13).
   (5) Pull the loop end (15), but do not fully extend the safety barrier strap (7), and hold it.
   (6) Put the strap guide support (6) in position and release the loop end (15).
   (7) Install and tighten the screws (4) and the washers (5).
   (8) Install the housing (11).
   (9) If you install the latch hook (3):
     (a) Put the latch hook (3) in position.
     (b) Install and tighten the screws (1) and the washers (2).
5. Close-up
Subtask 25-65-41-720-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do this test:
   (1) Pull the loop end (14) and fully extend the safety barrier strap (7) from its retracted position.
   (2) Install the loop end (14) on the latch hook (3).
   (3) Do a visual check of the safety barrier strap (7), loop end (14) and latch hook (3). Make sure that they are clean and in a satisfactory condition.
   (4) Lift the loop end (14) off the latch hook (3) and let the safety barrier strap (7) slowly retract into the drum unit (9).
   (5) Make sure that the loop end (14) retracts fully into its stowage and is held in position (under spring tension from the drum unit) against the guide support (6).
Subtask 25-65-41-720-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do this test:
   (1) Pull the loop end (15) and fully extend the safety barrier strap (7) from its retracted position.
   (2) Install the loop end (15) on the latch hook (3).
   (3) Do a visual check of the safety barrier strap (7), loop end (15) and latch hook (3). Make sure that they are clean and in a satisfactory condition.
   (4) Lift the loop end (15) off the latch hook (3) and let the safety barrier strap (7) slowly retract into the drum unit (9).
   (5) Make sure that the loop end (15) retracts fully into its stowage and is held in position (under spring tension from the drum unit) against the guide support (6).
Subtask 25-65-41-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the thermal and acoustical insulation. (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001).
   (3) Install the door frame linings.
   (4) Close the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
Subtask 25-65-41-410-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the thermal and acoustical insulation. (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001).
   (3) Install the door frame linings.
   (4) Close the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001) and/or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-002).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
