A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) Make sure that the door is safetied:
(b) Make sure that the emergency control-handle (3) is set to the DISARMED/MANUAL position with the 98D52103500000 SAFETY PIN - SLIDE ARMING (2) installed.
(3) Make sure that the door from the passenger compartment is closed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
(4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the outer door control-handle to tell persons not to open the door.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) Make sure that the door is safetied:
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE ESCAPE-SLIDE, MAKE SURE THAT THE DOOR IS SAFETIED.
THIS PREVENTS SUDDEN MOVEMENT OF THE DOOR AND ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT OF THE ESCAPE-SLIDE, WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR. SUDDEN MOVEMENT OF THE DOOR AND ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that the door-damper and emergency-operation cylinder is disarmed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001). (b) Make sure that the emergency control-handle (3) is set to the DISARMED/MANUAL position with the 98D52103500000 SAFETY PIN - SLIDE ARMING (2) installed.
(3) Make sure that the door from the passenger compartment is closed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
(4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the outer door control-handle to tell persons not to open the door.
Subtask 25-62-00-420-056-A
A. Installation of the Decorative Cover at the Escape-Slide Pack-Assembly or Escape-Slide Raft Pack-Assembly (Referred to as the Pack-Assembly)
(1) Install the decorative cover (6) on the pack-assembly (5):
1 Align the spring clips on the top edge of the decorative cover (6) with the slots (10) in the packboard (9).
2 Push the top edge of the decorative cover (6) against the attach-strips (4).
3 Push the bottom edge of the decorative cover (6) against the pack-assembly (5) until the spring clips engage.
(b) For procedure 3:
1 Engage the spring-loaded bolts (11).
2 Push the bottom edge of the decorative cover (6) against the pack-assembly (5) until the spring clips engage.
(c) Carefully lift the door with the door control-handle (1).
(d) Hold the door and do not let it open fully.
(e) Under the pack-assembly (5), engage the straps (7) between the decorative cover (6) and the girt assembly (8).
(f) Tighten the straps (7).
(g) Put the loose ends between the straps (7) and the pack-assembly (5) and attach them tightly to the straps.
(h) Carefully lower the door and lock it with the door control-handle (1).
(i) Make sure that you can see the gage through the hole in the decorative cover (6).
(2) Do an installation check of the decorative cover (6):
(a) Slowly open the door with the door control-handle (1). Make sure that there is clearance between the decorative cover (6) and the door frame lining.
(b) When the door is locked in the fully open position. Make sure that there is clearance between the decorative cover (6) and the fuselage.
1 If there is no clearance, make sure that you can set the door in the fully open and locked position with no resistance.
(c) Carefully close and lock the door with the door control-handle (1).
(d) Do a visual inspection of the sealing skirt (14). Make sure that the sealing skirt (14) goes between the trigger lever (13) of the girt bar (12) and the pack-assembly (5). See DETAIL E.
5. Close-up(1) Install the decorative cover (6) on the pack-assembly (5):
NOTE: There are three different procedures to attach the decorative cover (6):
More force is necessary to attach the dual-lock reclosable fastener-strips than to attach the burr strips. You hear a click when the two halves engage.
- Procedure 1: With burr strips (Velcro)
- Procedure 2: With dual-lock reclosable fastener-strips
- Procedure 3: With spring-loaded bolts.

NOTE: Steps (c) thru (h) are valid for escape-slide-raft pack-assembly only.
(a) For procedure 1 and 2: 1 Align the spring clips on the top edge of the decorative cover (6) with the slots (10) in the packboard (9).
2 Push the top edge of the decorative cover (6) against the attach-strips (4).
3 Push the bottom edge of the decorative cover (6) against the pack-assembly (5) until the spring clips engage.
(b) For procedure 3:
1 Engage the spring-loaded bolts (11).
2 Push the bottom edge of the decorative cover (6) against the pack-assembly (5) until the spring clips engage.
(c) Carefully lift the door with the door control-handle (1).
(d) Hold the door and do not let it open fully.
(e) Under the pack-assembly (5), engage the straps (7) between the decorative cover (6) and the girt assembly (8).
(f) Tighten the straps (7).
(g) Put the loose ends between the straps (7) and the pack-assembly (5) and attach them tightly to the straps.
(h) Carefully lower the door and lock it with the door control-handle (1).
(i) Make sure that you can see the gage through the hole in the decorative cover (6).
(2) Do an installation check of the decorative cover (6):
(a) Slowly open the door with the door control-handle (1). Make sure that there is clearance between the decorative cover (6) and the door frame lining.
(b) When the door is locked in the fully open position. Make sure that there is clearance between the decorative cover (6) and the fuselage.

NOTE: The sealing skirt (14) must not be on the trigger lever (13).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Put the door back to a serviceable condition (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
Subtask 25-62-00-860-069-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Put the door back to a serviceable condition (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
