C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

   (1) Open the thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the IDG
   (1) Remove the IDG 1(2) (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-51-000-803).
Subtask 24-21-41-020-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of the Quick Attach/Detach (QAD) adapter
   (1) Remove the QAD adapter (2) from the accessory-gearbox mounting pad (1):
     (a) Hit the head of each flat head screw (3) with a PUNCH - FLAT-END (5).
NOTE: The flat head screws (3) rub or get caught in mating parts. You must use force to loosen the flat head screws (3).
CAUTION: YOU CAN DAMAGE THE SCREWS IF YOU USE TOO MUCH FORCE TO HIT THE PUNCH.
     (b) If you cannot loosen the flat head screws (3):
  • Put the PUNCH - POINTED (7) on the flat head screws (3) in an angular position which will make the screw turn counterclockwise.
  • Hit the screw (3).
NOTE: An impact SCREWDRIVER - FLAT HEAD can be used as an alternative to the PUNCH - POINTED (7).
   (2) Remove the flat head screws (3) that attach the QAD adapter (2) to the accessory-gearbox mounting pad (1).
   (3) Pull the QAD adapter (2) away from the accessory-gearbox mounting pad (1).
NOTE: If you cannot easily release the QAD adapter (2) from the accessory-gearbox mounting pad (1), lightly hit the QAD adapter (2) with a MALLET - SOFT FACE (4).
   (4) Discard the gasket (6) only if it is damaged or shows signs of too much wear.
   (5) Install the COVER - PROTECTION on the accessory-gearbox mounting-pad (1).
