TASK 05-56-00-200-002-A
Preparation for the Measurement of the Aircraft

1. Reason for the Job
This procedure gives the instructions for the preparation of the aircraft measurement after an unusual event. You must do this procedure as follows:
  • Install the target supports and the related targets on the LH side of the aircraft
  • Do the measurement of forward LH targets
  • Do the measurement of aft LH targets
  • Remove the target supports and the related targets from the LH side of the aircraft
  • Install the target supports and the related targets on the RH side of the aircraft
  • Do the measurement of forward RH targets
  • Do the measurement of aft RH targets
  • Remove all the target supports and related targets from the aircraft.
Measurement procedures that use sticker targets with an precision of 1 mm (0.04 in.) are accepted. Send the results of the measurements to Airbus for analysis. Wait for the Airbus feedback to get instructions that you must obey before the return to operation.

Subtask 05-56-00-941-055-A
A. Towing of the Aircraft
   (1) Tow the aircraft to a position without air movement and a constant temperature, or into a hangar.
NOTE: It is necessary to tow the aircraft in a straight line along a distance of 10 meters to prevent lateral force on the landing gears.
NOTE: If you lifted the aircraft on jacks and then lowered it onto its wheels before you do the measurement:
  • We recommend to tow the aircraft in a straight line for some meters to release internal loads and to prevent unwanted movement of the shock absorbers.
Subtask 05-56-00-941-056-A
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Install the safety devices on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) Put the CHOCK - WHEEL(S) in position at the main landing gear.
   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position (Zones 100-200).
   (5) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position (Zones 500-600-330-340).
   (6) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 12M (40 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position (Zone 320).
   (7) Make sure that the area around the aircraft is clear.
NOTE: Incorrect aircraft measurement results and/or problems to do the measurement can occur because of tools/objects near the aircraft.
   (8) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the passenger/crew doors to prevent access to the aircraft while you measure it.
Subtask 05-56-00-860-051-A
C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that:
  • The flaps, slats and rudder are in the neutral position
  • All doors and panels are closed.
   (2) Fully defuel the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (3) Do a check of the tire pressure (Ref. AMM TASK 32-41-00-210-003).
   (4) Do a check of the nitrogen charge pressure (Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-32-614-003) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-14-32-614-004).
4. Procedure
Subtask 05-56-00-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation to measure the LH side of the aircraft
   (1) Use the tool 98F05003000002 TARGET-MEASUREMENT to measure the aircraft.
   (2) Installation of the TARGET SUPPORTS (98F05003000042)
     (a) Install 20 target supports in the aircraft holes and receptacles.
   (3) Installation of targets (use the applicable targets for the measurement procedure)
     (a) Attach the targets on the target supports. Make sure that the center of the target is aligned with the hole of target support.
If you use sticker targets, use the CENTERING TOOL (98F05003000040) to make sure that the target is in the correct position on the support:
F Use of the Centering Tool ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
  • Make a hole in the sticker with the centering tool in its center
  • Put the centering tool through the target support hole to put the target in the correct position.
NOTE: No target is necessary on fuselage leveling triangles.
     (b) Attach 3 targets to the outboard LH MLG rim-side. The center of the targets must be on the same radius.
     (c) Attach 3 targets to the LH NLG rim-side. The center of the targets must be on the same radius.
