Fuel-Crossfeed Valve status is not available or is shown incorrectly on the ECAM FUEL page

TASK 28-23-00-810-804-A
Fuel-Crossfeed Valve status is not available or is shown incorrectly on the ECAM FUEL page

WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE FUEL SYSTEM WIRING, YOU MUST USE TEST EQUIPMENT THAT IS APPROVED (REFER TO INTERNATIONAL OR NATIONAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR INTRINSICALLY SAFE TEST EQUIPMENT: EN50020, UL913 OR EQUIVALENT). TEST EQUIPMENT THAT IS NOT APPROVED CAN CAUSE FIRE OR AN EXPLOSION.
1. Possible Causes
  • ACTUATOR-FUEL CROSSFEED VALVE [5QE]
  • aircraft wiring
  • SDAC-1 [1WV1]
  • SDAC-2 [1WV2]

A. Test
   (1) Do the procedure for the operational test of the crossfeed valve using individual motors AMM 28-23-00-720-001.
NOTE: During the operational test when the C/B-2QE is set to open, the OPEN legend of the P/BSW-4QE will not come on. This is because the C/B-2QE also supplies 28VDC to the related lamp control circuit in the BOARD-ANN LT TEST & INTFC (6LP).
   (2) If, during the test of the crossfeed system:

  • the crossfeed valve (10QM) does not open and/or close, do the procedure (Ref. TSM TASK 28-23-00-810-801)

  • the ON and/or the OPEN legends of the P/BSW-4QE do not come on, do the procedure (Ref. TSM TASK 28-23-00-810-802)

  • the crossfeed valve status (symbol), relative to the P/BSW-4QE position (command) and the valve (see/feel indicator) position, is not shown correctly on the FUEL page, do the Para. 4.A.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 28-23-00-810-053-A
A. Procedure
   (1) Do a check of the actuator-5QE as follows:
NOTE: This step is necessary because although the actuator crossfeed valve 5QE see/feel indicator has moved to the open (closed) position, the internal position indication microswitch OPEN (CLOSED) contacts and/or the related wiring can be unserviceable.
     (a) Disconnect the connector 5QE-A from the actuator receptacle R1.
NOTE: The text reference to R1 relates to one of the actuator electrical receptacles and is etched onto the gearbox housing.
     (b) Monitor the actuator-5QE see/feel indicator and make a record of its position.
     (c) With a MULTIMETER - STANDARD, do a continuity check ESPM 2052210 of the actuator internal position indication microswitches ASM 282301 as follows:
1 If the actuator see/feel indicator in step (b) was:
         a In the closed position
At the actuator receptacle R1 do a check for:
  • continuity between the pins B and E
  • open circuit between the pins D and E.
         b In the open position
At the actuator receptacle R1 do a check for:
  • open circuit between the pins B and E
  • continuity between the pins D and E.
NOTE: The multimeter reading for continuity should be less than 1 ohm CMM 280111.
     (d) Push (in) or release (out) the P/BSW-4QE to change the actuator position.
NOTE: This is done with motor 2 supplied through the connector 5QE-B that is still connected to receptacle R2.
     (e) Do the step (d) again for the opposite condition.
     (f) If the actuator-5QE position indication microswitches:

   (2) If the fault continues, do a check ESPM 2052210 of the aircraft wiring ASM 282301 between:
  • The connector 5QE-A, pin D and the SDAC-1, rack connector 1WV1-A, pin 13H
  • The connector 5QE-A, pin D and the SDAC-2, rack connector 1WV2-A, pin 13H
  • The connector 5QE-A, pin B and the SDAC-1, rack connector 1WV1-A, pin 14H
  • The connector 5QE-A, pin B and the SDAC-2, rack connector 1WV2-A, pin 14H.
     (a) If the wiring is not correct:
  • Repair or replace the unserviceable wiring and connectors ESPM 2053210.
  • Do the test in Para. 3.A.
  • If the fault continues, do step (b).
     (b) If the wiring is correct:
   (3) If the fault continues, trouble shoot the ECAM display system (Ref. TSM 31-00-00).
