3. Fault Confirmation
Subtask 21-00-00-710-052-A
A. If there was (is) a smell of oil in the cabin
  • do a visual inspection for leaks on the APU with a LIGHT SOURCE - ULTRA-VIOLET, PORTABLE:
   (1) Remove the APU bleed-air duct-elbow forward of the bleed control valve,
   (2) Do a general visual inspection of the
  • Air Plenum Duct,
  • Inlet Guide Vanes,
  • Compressor Bellmouth,
  • Turbine Blades and
  • Turbine Bellmouth.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the air inlet if you do the general visual inspection with a LIGHT SOURCE - ULTRA-VIOLET, PORTABLE.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 21-00-00-810-053-A
A. If there is oil in the APU bleed-air duct-elbow, on the air plenum duct, compressor or turbine area around the air inlet:
  • do a check for external oil leaks of the APU.
NOTE: A damaged turbine or compressor carbon seal can cause oil contamination on the compressor or turbine bellmouths, at the 6 o' clock position. If this fault occurs, refer to step (3).
   (1) If there is an external oil leakage :
     (a) do the necessary steps to stop the external oil leakage and clean and install the APU bleed-air duct-elbow:
     (b) do the trouble shooting of the APU:
     (c) do the decontamination of the ECS AMM 21-00-00-615-001 or AMM 21-00-00-615-002.
   (2) If there is no external oil leakage:
     (a) clean and install the APU bleed-air duct elbow:
     (b) do the trouble shooting of the APU:
     (c) do the decontamination of the ECS AMM 21-00-00-615-001 or AMM 21-00-00-615-002.
     (d) do the trouble shooting of the engine(s) (Ref. TSM TASK 71-00-00-810-802).
   (3) If there is no external oil leakage and oil is found on the turbine bellmouth at the 6 o' clock position:
     (a) replace the APU:
Subtask 21-00-00-810-058-A
B. If there is no oil in the APU bleed-air duct-elbow or around the air inlet:
