WARNING: BE CAREFUL DURING THE REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION OF THE STARTER. IT WEIGHS 33lbs (15kg). IF IT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
WARNING: IF IT IS NECESSARY TO ENERGIZE THE AIRCRAFT FOR A MAINTENANCE WORK WHILE YOU DO THIS MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT ONLY EXTERNAL POWER IS USED. THE USE OF APU OR ENGINE POWER CAN CAUSE PRESSURIZED AIR LEAKAGE IN THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, AND INJURY CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DURING INSTALLATION OF THE AIR DUCT DO NOT PUT MORE STRESS THAN IS NECESSARY ON THE DUCT.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 80-13-41-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (4) On the APU section of OVERHEAD CTL & IND panel 25VU:
     (a) Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the APU.
   (5) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off),
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
   (6) On the HP ground connector:
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
   (7) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the X-BLEED selector switch is in the SHUT position.

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010)

4. Procedure
Subtask 80-13-41-630-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove caps from all openings.

C. Install the Starter.
   (1) Install the
AIPC 80-13-41-80-070 SEALING RING (2) on the starter drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010)
   (2) Install the starter in the adapter housing
CAUTION: THE STARTER CAN ACCIDENTALLY BE INSTALLED WITH THE MASTER SPLINE DISENGAGED. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE STARTER AND POSSIBLY THE GEARBOX. YOU MUST BE CAREFUL TO MAKE SURE THE MASTER SPLINE IS CORRECTLY ALIGNED AND THE STARTER IS INSTALLED ON THE ADAPTER WITH THE CLAMP CORRECTLY INSTALLED.
     (a) Make sure that the oil drain point is at the lowest position.
     (b) Align the master spline on the starter and the adapter housing.
     (c) Install the starter in the adapter housing.
     (d) Install the clamp (9).
     (e) TORQUE the clamp to between 65 and 60 lbf.in (0.73 and 0.68 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013)
   (3) Install the lower duct.
     (a) Install new AIPC 80-13-51-80-020 SEAL (5) and new AIPC 80-13-41-80-020 GASKET (8) on to the duct (7).
     (b) Put the lower duct in position and install the clamps (6) and (4).
     (c) TORQUE the clamps to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )

D. Add V10-077lubricant (engine oil) to the starter (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-80-600-010)

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. Do a dry motor leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-045).
