Replenishment of Starter Oil System
WARNING:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 12-13-80-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.

A. Do the servicing of the starter with oil
(1) Removal of the lockwire
(2) Remove the oil filler plug (1) with the sealing ring (2) from the oil filling point (6).
(a) On engines that have SBE80-0003, but do not have SBE80-007, do not loosen the adapter (3). Hold the adapter (3) with the wrench when you remove the oil filler plug (1).
(4) Removal of the lockwire
(5) Remove the oil overflow plug (9) with the sealing ring (8) from the oil overflow point (10).
(6) Remove and discard the sealing ring (8).
(7) Put the container in position below the pneumatic starter (7).
(a) Use the BOTTLE - SQUEEZE, FLEXIBLE TUBE EQUIPPED to put theV10-077 lubricant (engine oil) into the pneumatic starter (7) at the oil filling point (6).
(b) Wait until the oil flows from the oil overflow point (10).
(10) Install a new AIPC 80-13-41-80-200 SEALING RING (8) on the oil overflow plug (9) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(11) With the oil at the correct level, install the oil overflow plug (9) with the sealing ring (8) on the oil overflow point (10).
(12) TORQUE the oil overflow plug (9) to between 45 and 30 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.34 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(13) Safety the oil overflow plug:
(14) Install a new AIPC 80-13-41-80-110 SEALING RING (2) on the oil filler plug (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(15) Make sure that the oil is at the correct level. Then, install the oil filler plug (1) with the sealing ring (2) on the oil filling point (6).
(16) TORQUE the oil filler plug (1) to between 35 and 20 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.23 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(17) Safety the oil filler plug:
(18) Remove all unwanted oil from the external part of the starter (7) with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
5. Close-up(1) Removal of the lockwire
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire that safeties the oil filler plug (1). (2) Remove the oil filler plug (1) with the sealing ring (2) from the oil filling point (6).
(a) On engines that have SBE80-0003, but do not have SBE80-007, do not loosen the adapter (3). Hold the adapter (3) with the wrench when you remove the oil filler plug (1).
NOTE: Introduction of Oil Sight Glass and Increased Oil Quantity - SBE80-0003.
NOTE: Introduction of a New Starter Transmission Housing to Increase Oil Levels - SBE80-0007.
(3) Remove and discard the sealing ring (2). (4) Removal of the lockwire
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire that safeties the oil overflow plug (9). (5) Remove the oil overflow plug (9) with the sealing ring (8) from the oil overflow point (10).
(6) Remove and discard the sealing ring (8).
(7) Put the container in position below the pneumatic starter (7).
CAUTION:
FILL PORT AND OVERFLOW PORT MUST BE OPENED DURING OIL SERVICE. IF NOT, OVERFILLING CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
TO MAKE SURE THE OIL LEVEL IS CORRECT, WAIT UNTIL OVERFLOW STOPS FROM THE FILL PORT OR OVERFLOW PORT.
(8) Do the steps that follow: (a) Use the BOTTLE - SQUEEZE, FLEXIBLE TUBE EQUIPPED to put the
(b) Wait until the oil flows from the oil overflow point (10).
NOTE: It is not possible to use the starter sight glass as an accurate gauge to make sure that the oil quantity is correct. The sight glass is a guide that lets you know that the starter servicing occurred.
NOTE: If you fill the pneumatic starter (7) too quickly, an oil overflow from the oil overflow point (10) and from the oil filling point (6) can occur.
NOTE: It is possible to use a maximum of 12 oz. of engine oil to do the servicing of the starter.
(9) To make sure that the oil level is correct, wait until the overflow stops. (10) Install a new AIPC 80-13-41-80-200 SEALING RING (8) on the oil overflow plug (9) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(11) With the oil at the correct level, install the oil overflow plug (9) with the sealing ring (8) on the oil overflow point (10).
(12) TORQUE the oil overflow plug (9) to between 45 and 30 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.34 m.daN )

USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Safety the oil overflow plug (9) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-126) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014). (14) Install a new AIPC 80-13-41-80-110 SEALING RING (2) on the oil filler plug (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(15) Make sure that the oil is at the correct level. Then, install the oil filler plug (1) with the sealing ring (2) on the oil filling point (6).
(16) TORQUE the oil filler plug (1) to between 35 and 20 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.23 m.daN )

(a) Safety the oil filler plug (1) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-126) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014). (18) Remove all unwanted oil from the external part of the starter (7) with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
CAUTION:
DO NOT PUT OIL THAT HAS BEEN DRAINED FROM THE STARTER BACK IN TO THE OIL SYSTEM.
