Installation of the Starter Air Valve (SAV)
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING:
IF IT IS NECESSARY TO ENERGIZE THE AIRCRAFT FOR MAINTENANCE WORK WHILE YOU DO THIS MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT ONLY EXTERNAL POWER IS USED. THE USE OF APU OR ENGINE POWER CAN CAUSE PRESSURIZED AIR LEAKAGE IN THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM AND INJURY CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) On the overhead control and indicator panel 25VU, on the APU section:
(a) Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton is released.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the APU.
(4) On the HP ground connector:
(a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
Subtask 80-11-15-010-051-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

A. Installation of the Starter Air Valve (SAV)
(1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
(2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(3) Lubricate the nuts and V-band clamps.
(4) Put the SAV (1) in the correct position between the starter air duct (3) and pneumatic air starter (9).
(6) Install the V-band clamp (8) to attach the SAV (1) on the pneumatic air starter (9).
(7) Tighten the nut (7) on the V-band clamp (8) to attach the SAV (1) on the pneumatic air starter (9) with your hand.
(8) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 99 and 91 lbf.in (1.12 and 1.03 m.daN )

(9) Install a new AIPC 80-12-49-01-090 SEAL (14) between the SAV (1) and the starter air duct (3).
(10) Install the V-band clamp (5) to attach the starter air duct (3) on the SAV (1).
(11) Install the tightener (6) in the locked position on the V-band clamp (5).
(12) Tighten the nut (4) on the tightener (6).
(13) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 99 and 91 lbf.in (1.12 and 1.03 m.daN )

(14) Connection of the electrical connectors
Subtask 80-11-15-710-050-A 5. Close-up(1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
(2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(3) Lubricate the nuts and V-band clamps.
WARNING:
USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
(a) Lubricate the threads of the nuts (4) and (7) and the V-band clamps (5) and (8) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) . (4) Put the SAV (1) in the correct position between the starter air duct (3) and pneumatic air starter (9).
NOTE: Align the sign with the A face of the starter air valve (SAV).
(5) Install a new EIPC 80-11-15-01-030 SEAL (13) between the SAV (1) and the pneumatic air starter (9). (6) Install the V-band clamp (8) to attach the SAV (1) on the pneumatic air starter (9).
(7) Tighten the nut (7) on the V-band clamp (8) to attach the SAV (1) on the pneumatic air starter (9) with your hand.
(8) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 99 and 91 lbf.in (1.12 and 1.03 m.daN )
. (9) Install a new AIPC 80-12-49-01-090 SEAL (14) between the SAV (1) and the starter air duct (3).
(10) Install the V-band clamp (5) to attach the starter air duct (3) on the SAV (1).
(11) Install the tightener (6) in the locked position on the V-band clamp (5).
(12) Tighten the nut (4) on the tightener (6).
(13) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 99 and 91 lbf.in (1.12 and 1.03 m.daN )
. (14) Connection of the electrical connectors
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) Connect the two HJ6A harness electrical connectors, the 1.18 in. (30 mm) diameter connector (2) to the socket (11) and the 0.98 in. (25 mm) diameter connector (10) to the socket (12) of the SAV (1). Subtask 80-11-15-410-050-A
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):

(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
