Removal of the Engine Surface Air Cooling Oil Cooler (SACOC)
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 79-21-30-010-059-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 79-21-30-010-060-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

A. Removal of the Engine SACOC (left) (1)
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below all the tube openings and the engine SACOC (left) (1).
(2) Disconnection of the oil tube (3) from the engine SACOC (left) (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (4) from the oil tube (3).
(b) Disconnect the oil tube (3) from the engine SACOC (left) (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (5).
(3) Disconnection of the oil tube (6) from the engine SACOC (left) (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (7) from the oil tube (6).
(b) Disconnect the oil tube (6) from the engine SACOC (left) (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (8).
(4) Removal of the engine SACOC (left) (1):
(b) Remove the eight bolts (9) that attach the engine SACOC (left) (1) to the engine.
(c) Remove the engine SACOC (left) (1) and the bracket (18) from the engine.
(5) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
Subtask 79-21-30-020-054-A (1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below all the tube openings and the engine SACOC (left) (1).
(2) Disconnection of the oil tube (3) from the engine SACOC (left) (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (4) from the oil tube (3).
(b) Disconnect the oil tube (3) from the engine SACOC (left) (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (5).
(3) Disconnection of the oil tube (6) from the engine SACOC (left) (1):
(a) Remove the four bolts (7) from the oil tube (6).
(b) Disconnect the oil tube (6) from the engine SACOC (left) (1).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (8).
(4) Removal of the engine SACOC (left) (1):
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU HOLD THE ENGINE SURFACE AIR-COOLING OIL-COOLER (SACOC) DURING THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(a) Remove the two screws (17) that attach the bracket (18) to the engine. (b) Remove the eight bolts (9) that attach the engine SACOC (left) (1) to the engine.
(c) Remove the engine SACOC (left) (1) and the bracket (18) from the engine.
(5) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
B. Removal of the Engine SACOC (right) (2)
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below all the tube openings and the engine SACOC (right) (2).
(2) Disconnection of the oil tube (10) from the engine SACOC (right) (2):
(a) Remove the four bolts (11) from the oil tube (10).
(b) Disconnect the oil tube (10) from the engine SACOC (right) (2).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (12).
(3) Disconnection of the oil tube (13) from the engine SACOC (right) (2):
(a) Remove the four bolts (14) from the oil tube (13).
(b) Disconnect the oil tube (13) from the engine SACOC (right) (2).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (15).
(4) Removal of the engine SACOC (right) (2):
(b) Remove the eight bolts (16) that attach the engine SACOC (right) (2) to the engine.
(c) Remove the engine SACOC (right) (2) and the bracket (18) from the engine.
(5) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
(6) Remove the engine SACOC (left) (1) following the task above.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below all the tube openings and the engine SACOC (right) (2).
(2) Disconnection of the oil tube (10) from the engine SACOC (right) (2):
(a) Remove the four bolts (11) from the oil tube (10).
(b) Disconnect the oil tube (10) from the engine SACOC (right) (2).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (12).
(3) Disconnection of the oil tube (13) from the engine SACOC (right) (2):
(a) Remove the four bolts (14) from the oil tube (13).
(b) Disconnect the oil tube (13) from the engine SACOC (right) (2).
(c) Remove and discard the gasket (15).
(4) Removal of the engine SACOC (right) (2):
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU HOLD THE ENGINE SURFACE AIR-COOLING OIL-COOLER (SACOC) DURING THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(a) Remove the two screws (17) that attach the bracket (18) to the engine. (b) Remove the eight bolts (16) that attach the engine SACOC (right) (2) to the engine.
(c) Remove the engine SACOC (right) (2) and the bracket (18) from the engine.
(5) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
(6) Remove the engine SACOC (left) (1) following the task above.
