Removal of the Magnetic Bars from the Scavenge Screen Plug
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

YOU MUST FIND AND OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S HEALTH AND SAFETY DATA FOR THE MATERIAL (MSDS). YOU MUST ALSO REFER TO LOCAL REGULATIONS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THE PROCEDURES SAFELY. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, AN INJURY OR ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 79-21-05-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

A. Remove the magnetic bar (3) from the triple stage scavenge screen plug (2) as follows:
(2) Remove the magnetic chip plug (4) from the triple stage scavenge screen plug (2).
(3) Remove and discard the O-ring (5) from the groove of the magnetic chip plug (4) of the triple stage scavenge screen plug (2).
(4) Remove the magnetic bar (3) from the triple stage scavenge screen plug (2).
(5) Install the CAP - PROTECTION and COVER - PROTECTION on the all open ports, open tubes, hoses and connectors.
Subtask 79-21-05-020-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT TRY TO LOOSEN AND/OR REMOVE THE SCREEN FROM THE PLUG BODY BEFORE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF THE MAGNETIC BAR. THE PLUG BODY AND THE SCREEN ARE A NON-SEPARABLE ASSEMBLY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE COULD OCCUR.
(1) Remove the triple scavenge screen plug (2) from the lubrication unit (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-000-801). (2) Remove the magnetic chip plug (4) from the triple stage scavenge screen plug (2).
(3) Remove and discard the O-ring (5) from the groove of the magnetic chip plug (4) of the triple stage scavenge screen plug (2).
(4) Remove the magnetic bar (3) from the triple stage scavenge screen plug (2).
(5) Install the CAP - PROTECTION and COVER - PROTECTION on the all open ports, open tubes, hoses and connectors.
B. Remove the magnetic bar (7) from the double stage scavenge screen plug (6) as follows:
(2) Remove the magnetic chip plug (8) from the double stage scavenge screen plug (6).
(3) Remove and discard the O-ring (9) from the groove of the magnetic chip plug (8) of the double stage scavenge screen plug (6).
(4) Remove the magnetic bar (7) from the double stage scavenge screen plug (6).
(5) Install the CAP - PROTECTION and COVER - PROTECTION on the all open ports, open tubes, hoses and connectors.
CAUTION:
DO NOT TRY TO LOOSEN AND/OR REMOVE THE SCREEN FROM THE PLUG BODY BEFORE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF THE MAGNETIC BAR. THE PLUG BODY AND THE SCREEN ARE A NON-SEPARABLE ASSEMBLY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE COULD OCCUR.
(1) Remove the double stage scavenge screen plug (6) from the lubrication unit (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-000-801) . (2) Remove the magnetic chip plug (8) from the double stage scavenge screen plug (6).
(3) Remove and discard the O-ring (9) from the groove of the magnetic chip plug (8) of the double stage scavenge screen plug (6).
(4) Remove the magnetic bar (7) from the double stage scavenge screen plug (6).
(5) Install the CAP - PROTECTION and COVER - PROTECTION on the all open ports, open tubes, hoses and connectors.
