Subtask 79-11-10-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 79-11-10-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.

B. Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

Subtask 79-11-10-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Oil Tank.
(1) Drain the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-003).
(2) Remove the oil quantity transmitter from the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 79-31-15-000-040).
(3) Disconnect the tubes from the oil tank (110) as follows:
(b) Remove the 4 bolts (140) and disconnect the suction hose (150) from the oil tank (110). Remove and keep the gasket (130).
(c) Remove the 4 bolts (170) and disconnect the discharge hose (180) from the oil tank (110). Remove and keep the gasket (210).
(d) Disconnect the drain tube (100) coupling nut from the oil scupper nipple.
(e) Disconnect the hose (200) coupling nut from the oil tank nipple.
(4) Disconnect the bonding strip (220) from the flange E of the fan frame as follows:
(a) Remove the nut (230), the washer (260) and the bolt (190) which attach the bonding strip (220) to the hole No. 79 of the flange E.
(5) Remove the lower mounts as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (70) and (160) which attach the forward and aft shock absorbers (80) and (120) to the oil tank (110).
(b) Remove the 2 bolts (90) which attach each shock absorbers (80) and (120) to the bracket on the fan frame.
(c) Disengage the shock absorbers (80) and (120) from the brackets and remove them from the oil tank (110).
(6) Remove the upper mount as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (40).
(b) Remove the nut (240) and the washer (250).
(7) Install caps and plugs
(a) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(b) Put plugs and caps on all open ports/orifices of the oil tank.
Subtask 79-11-10-020-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Drain the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-003).
(2) Remove the oil quantity transmitter from the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 79-31-15-000-040).
(3) Disconnect the tubes from the oil tank (110) as follows:
CAUTION:
INSTALL CAPS AND PLUGS ON THE ORIFICES OF ALL DISCONNECTED PIPES AND PARTS FOR THEIR PROTECTION AGAINST CONTAMINATION BY UNWANTED MATERIALS.
CAUTION:
USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
(a) Remove the 4 bolts (10) and disconnect the vent hose (20) from the oil tank (110). Remove and keep the gasket (30). - ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
- ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
(b) Remove the 4 bolts (140) and disconnect the suction hose (150) from the oil tank (110). Remove and keep the gasket (130).
(c) Remove the 4 bolts (170) and disconnect the discharge hose (180) from the oil tank (110). Remove and keep the gasket (210).
(d) Disconnect the drain tube (100) coupling nut from the oil scupper nipple.
(e) Disconnect the hose (200) coupling nut from the oil tank nipple.
(4) Disconnect the bonding strip (220) from the flange E of the fan frame as follows:
(a) Remove the nut (230), the washer (260) and the bolt (190) which attach the bonding strip (220) to the hole No. 79 of the flange E.
(5) Remove the lower mounts as follows:
(a) Remove the nuts (70) and (160) which attach the forward and aft shock absorbers (80) and (120) to the oil tank (110).
(b) Remove the 2 bolts (90) which attach each shock absorbers (80) and (120) to the bracket on the fan frame.
(c) Disengage the shock absorbers (80) and (120) from the brackets and remove them from the oil tank (110).
(6) Remove the upper mount as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (40).
(b) Remove the nut (240) and the washer (250).
CAUTION:
SUPPORT THE OIL TANK DURING THE REMOVAL OF THE SHOULDER-HEADED PIN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE OIL TANK.
(c) Remove the shoulder-headed pin (50) and remove the oil tank (110) from the engine. (7) Install caps and plugs
(a) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(b) Put plugs and caps on all open ports/orifices of the oil tank.
B. Removal of the lug-mountings
(a) Remove the 4 bolts (10), which attach each pin (20).
(b) Remove each pin (20) of its oil tank (40) recess.
(c) Remove and discard the O-ring (30) of each pin (20).
NOTE: Do these steps in case of replacement of the oil tank or if necessary to accomplish a repair of the envelope.
(1) Remove the 2 pins (20) as follows: (a) Remove the 4 bolts (10), which attach each pin (20).
(b) Remove each pin (20) of its oil tank (40) recess.
(c) Remove and discard the O-ring (30) of each pin (20).
