Check Master Magnetic Chip Detector for Evidence of Metallic Debris

WARNING: DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

CAUTION: DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

4. Procedure
Subtask 79-00-00-110-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Remove the Master MCD

Master Magnetic Chip Detector ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Remove the Master MCD (Ref. AMM TASK 79-22-45-000-010).

Subtask 79-00-00-210-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

B. Inspect the master MCD for metallic debris.
(1) Metallic debris not found:

Return engine to service.

(2) Metallic debris found:

Inspect all MCD's (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-200-011) and oil filter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-200-012).

Subtask 79-00-00-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

C. Install the Master MCD.
(1) Install clean Master MCD (Ref. AMM TASK 79-22-45-400-010).

5. Close-up
Subtask 79-00-00-942-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
