Removal of the Thrust Reverser Hold Open Rods (HOR) Engine Brackets


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-36-42-941-064-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Nacelle Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance nacelle (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-36-42-020-054-A
A. Removal of the Left Hand (LH) Side Thrust Reverser HOR Engine Bracket

PRE SPOL BD-EBU-17022

   (1) Remove the bolt (1) that attaches the P-clamp (2) to the engine fuel tube.
   (2) Remove the three nuts (3), the three bolts (4) and the six washers (5) that attach the LH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (6) to the E-flange of the aft fan case.
   (3) Remove the LH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (6).

B. Removal of the Right Hand (RH) Side Thrust Reverser HOR Engine Bracket
   (1) Remove the two harnesses (11) that are attached to the RH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (7).
   (2) Remove the three nuts (8), the three bolts (9) and the six washers (10) that attach the RH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (7) to the E-flange of the aft fan case.
NOTE: Washer is removed from under the bolt head and nut.
NOTE: The bolts must be removed from the aft side of the bracket (7) and secured by the nuts on the forward side of the E-flange.
   (3) Remove the RH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (7).

C. Removal of the LH Side Thrust Reverser HOR Engine Bracket

POST SPOL BD-EBU-17022

   (1) Remove the bolt (1) that attaches the P-clamp (2) to the engine fuel tube.
   (2) Remove the three nuts (3) and the three bolts (4) that attach the LH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (6) to the E-flange of the aft fan case.
   (3) Remove the LH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (6).

D. Removal of the RH Side Thrust Reverser HOR Engine Bracket
   (1) Remove the two harnesses (11) that are attached to the RH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (7).
   (2) Remove the three nuts (8) and the three bolts (9) that attach the RH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (7) to the E-flange of the aft fan case.
NOTE: The bolts must be removed from the aft side of the bracket (7) and secured by the nuts on the forward side of the E-flange.
   (3) Remove the RH side thrust reverser HOR engine bracket (7).
