Removal of the Left C-Duct Flexible Synchronous Cables and Tubes
WARNING:
DO NOT GET HYDRAULIC FLUID ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR EYES OR IN YOUR MOUTH. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY. FLUSH HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM YOUR EYES, MOUTH OR SKIN WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOU GET HYDRAULIC FLUID IN YOUR EYES OR MOUTH.

DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. ANY UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND SOME PARTS.

Subtask 78-32-44-941-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-32-44-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position
Subtask 78-32-44-040-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position
C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 78-32-44-980-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Manually retract the translating sleeves to make sure they are in the fully stowed position (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-011).
4. ProcedureSubtask 78-32-44-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the CONTAINER 30 L(8 USGAL) in position under the hydraulic connections to catch the drained hydraulic fluid.
Subtask 78-32-44-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL B. Remove the lower flexshaft/tube
(1) Put a CONTAINER 30 L(8 USGAL) under the hydraulic connections to catch the drained hydraulic fluid when you open the connections
(2) At the three positions between the locking actuator (6) and the non-locking actuator (3), remove the screws (8), the washers (2) and the clamps (7) which attach the lower flexshaft/tube (5) and the lower hydraulic tube (4) to the brackets (Detail B).
(3) Loosen the locknut (21) at the bottom end of the lower flexshaft/tube (5).
(4) Disconnect the bottom tube nut (20) of the lower flexshaft/tube (5).
(5) Pull up the telescoping end of the lower flexshaft/tube (5).
(6) Let the hydraulic fluid drain from the tube.
(7) Remove the flexshaft
(8) Remove the flexshaft (19) from the lower flexshaft/tube (5).
(9) Disconnect the upper tube nut (20) of the lower flexshaft/tube (5) from the non-locking actuator (3).
(10) Remove the lower flexshaft/tube (5) from the non-locking actuator (3).
(11) Install CAP - BLANKING on the ends of the lower flexshaft/tube and the openings of the locking and the non-locking actuators.
Subtask 78-32-44-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put a CONTAINER 30 L(8 USGAL) under the hydraulic connections to catch the drained hydraulic fluid when you open the connections
(2) At the three positions between the locking actuator (6) and the non-locking actuator (3), remove the screws (8), the washers (2) and the clamps (7) which attach the lower flexshaft/tube (5) and the lower hydraulic tube (4) to the brackets (Detail B).
(3) Loosen the locknut (21) at the bottom end of the lower flexshaft/tube (5).
(4) Disconnect the bottom tube nut (20) of the lower flexshaft/tube (5).
(5) Pull up the telescoping end of the lower flexshaft/tube (5).
(6) Let the hydraulic fluid drain from the tube.
(7) Remove the flexshaft
CAUTION:
DO NOT TURN THE FLEXSHAFT MORE THAN ONE-EIGHTH TURN WHILE ONE END IS STILL ENGAGED.
(a) Remove the flexshaft (19) from the socket of the locking actuator (6). (8) Remove the flexshaft (19) from the lower flexshaft/tube (5).
(9) Disconnect the upper tube nut (20) of the lower flexshaft/tube (5) from the non-locking actuator (3).
(10) Remove the lower flexshaft/tube (5) from the non-locking actuator (3).
(11) Install CAP - BLANKING on the ends of the lower flexshaft/tube and the openings of the locking and the non-locking actuators.
C. Remove the lower hydraulic tube (4)
(1) Disconnect the bottom tube nut of the lower hydraulic tube (4) from the locking actuator (6).
(2) Drain the hydraulic fluid from the lower hydraulic tube.
(3) Disconnect the upper tube nut of the lower hydraulic tube (4) from the non-locking actuator (3).
(4) Remove the lower hydraulic tube.
(5) Install CAP - BLANKING on the ends of the lower hydraulic tube and the openings of the locking and the non-locking actuators.
Subtask 78-32-44-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Disconnect the bottom tube nut of the lower hydraulic tube (4) from the locking actuator (6).
(2) Drain the hydraulic fluid from the lower hydraulic tube.
(3) Disconnect the upper tube nut of the lower hydraulic tube (4) from the non-locking actuator (3).
(4) Remove the lower hydraulic tube.
(5) Install CAP - BLANKING on the ends of the lower hydraulic tube and the openings of the locking and the non-locking actuators.
D. Remove the crossover hydraulic hose
(1) Remove the nut (38), the washer (37), the screw (39), the two clamps (36) and the bracket (43) which holds the crossover flex shaft/hose (18) and the hydraulic hose (33).
(3) Remove the crossover flexshaft
(4) Disconnect the hose nut (32) from the tee fitting (31).
(5) Move the crossover flexshaft/hose (18) off the crossover flexshaft (42) and out of the belt clamp (35).
(6) Install CAP - BLANKING on both ends of the crossover flexshaft/hose (18).
(7) Pull the crossover flexshaft (42) out of the socket of the right non-locking actuator, through the right crossover flexshaft/hose and out of the tee fitting (31).
(8) Install CAP - BLANKING on the openings of the non-locking actuator (3) and the tee fitting (31).
Subtask 78-32-44-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the nut (38), the washer (37), the screw (39), the two clamps (36) and the bracket (43) which holds the crossover flex shaft/hose (18) and the hydraulic hose (33).
NOTE: Mark the position and angle of the clamp before removal.
(2) Disconnect the hose nut (32) from the non-locking actuator (3). (3) Remove the crossover flexshaft
CAUTION:
DO NOT TURN THE FLEXSHAFT MORE THAN ONE-EIGHTH TURN WHILE ONE END IS STILL ENGAGED.
(a) Remove the crossover flexshaft (42) from the non-locking actuator (3). (4) Disconnect the hose nut (32) from the tee fitting (31).
(5) Move the crossover flexshaft/hose (18) off the crossover flexshaft (42) and out of the belt clamp (35).
(6) Install CAP - BLANKING on both ends of the crossover flexshaft/hose (18).
(7) Pull the crossover flexshaft (42) out of the socket of the right non-locking actuator, through the right crossover flexshaft/hose and out of the tee fitting (31).
(8) Install CAP - BLANKING on the openings of the non-locking actuator (3) and the tee fitting (31).
E. Remove the crossover hydraulic hose
(1) Remove the two screws (41) and the clamp assembly (40) which hold the crossover hydraulic hose (33) near the tee fitting (31).
(2) Disconnect the two hose nuts (32) from the non-locking actuator (3) and the union (34).
(3) Remove the crossover hydraulic hose (33).
(4) Remove the union (34) from the tee fitting (31).
(5) Install the CAP - BLANKING on the ends of the crossover hydraulic hose (33) and the openings on the non-locking actuator (3) and the tee fitting (31).
Subtask 78-32-44-942-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the two screws (41) and the clamp assembly (40) which hold the crossover hydraulic hose (33) near the tee fitting (31).
(2) Disconnect the two hose nuts (32) from the non-locking actuator (3) and the union (34).
(3) Remove the crossover hydraulic hose (33).
(4) Remove the union (34) from the tee fitting (31).
(5) Install the CAP - BLANKING on the ends of the crossover hydraulic hose (33) and the openings on the non-locking actuator (3) and the tee fitting (31).
F. Remove the container and discard the drained hydraulic fluid.
