Subtask 78-32-42-941-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 78-32-42-980-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Manual extension of the translating sleeve
Subtask 78-32-42-010-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES FULLY OPEN. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO:
- THE SYNCHRONIZING CABLES OF THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE
- THE HINGE ACCESS PANELS OF THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES
- THE PYLON PROFILES, AND
- THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE.
CAUTION:
IF YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES AFTER YOU EXTENDED THE TRANSLATING SLEEVES, MAKE SURE THAT:
- THE SLATS ARE RETRACTED, AND
- YOU REMOVE THE PROFILES AND THE HINGE ACCESS PANELS.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(1) Manually extend the translating sleeve approximately 3 in. (76.2 mm) to 4 in. (101.6 mm) to relieve the preload from the link (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-010). E. Open the left thrust reverser half (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

A. Disconnect the drag link from the fitting

(1) Remove the cotter pin (3), the nut (7), the washers (4) and the pin (5) or the bolt (8) which attach the drag link (2) to the fitting (6).

(1) Remove the cotter pin (3), the nut (7), the washers (4) and the pin (5) or the bolt (8) which attach the drag link (2) to the fitting (6).
B. Disconnect the drag link from the fitting
SBN 78-0032: Changed attachment of the drag link to the fitting.
(1) Remove the cotter pin (3), the nut (7), the washer (4)(for A1 Engines) or the washers (4)(for A5 Engines) and the bolt (8) which attach the drag link (2) to the fitting (6).

(1) Remove the cotter pin (3), the nut (7), the washer (4)(for A1 Engines) or the washers (4)(for A5 Engines) and the bolt (8) which attach the drag link (2) to the fitting (6).
C. Remove the drag link

(1) Remove the nut (9), the bolt (11), and the washers (10).
(2) Remove the drag link (2) from the blocker door.
