Removal of the Thrust Reverser Blocker Door Fairing

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the applicable thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
451AL or 452AR
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
461AL or 462AR.
4. Procedure(1) Open the applicable thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
451AL or 452AR
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
461AL or 462AR.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(1) Remove the upper blocker door fairing (2):
(b) Remove the five bolts (4) and the bolt (3) that attach the upper blocker door fairing (2) to the translating sleeve structure.
(c) Remove the upper blocker door fairing (2) and the washers (1) from the translating sleeve structure.

(2) Remove the upper blocker door fairing (6):
(b) Remove the six bolts (7) that attach the upper blocker door fairing (6) to the translating sleeve structure.
(c) Remove the upper blocker door fairing (6) from the translating sleeve structure.

(3) Remove the lower blocker door fairing (5):
(b) Remove the lower blocker door fairing (5) and the washers (1) from the translating sleeve structure. Do not let the washers (1) fall into the translating sleeve structure.

(4) Remove the lower blocker door fairing (8):
(b) Remove the lower blocker door fairing (8) from the translating sleeve structure.

(5) Installation of the protection covers

(1) Remove the upper blocker door fairing (2):
NOTE: This procedure is for the left thrust reverser upper blocker door fairing. The procedure for the right thrust reverser upper blocker door fairing is symmetrical.
(a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position. (b) Remove the five bolts (4) and the bolt (3) that attach the upper blocker door fairing (2) to the translating sleeve structure.
(c) Remove the upper blocker door fairing (2) and the washers (1) from the translating sleeve structure.

(3) Remove the lower blocker door fairing (5):
NOTE: This procedure is for the left thrust reverser lower blocker door fairing. The procedure for the right thrust reverser lower blocker door fairing is symmetrical.
(a) Remove the five bolts (4) and the bolt (3) that attach the lower blocker door fairing (5) to the translating sleeve structure. (b) Remove the lower blocker door fairing (5) and the washers (1) from the translating sleeve structure. Do not let the washers (1) fall into the translating sleeve structure.

(4) Remove the lower blocker door fairing (8):
NOTE: This procedure is for the left thrust reverser lower blocker door fairing. The procedure for the right thrust reverser lower blocker door fairing is symmetrical.
(a) Remove the six bolts (7) that attach the lower blocker door fairing (8) to the translating sleeve structure. (b) Remove the lower blocker door fairing (8) from the translating sleeve structure.

(5) Installation of the protection covers
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
