B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Extend the left thrust-reverser translating sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-802).
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Removal of the Left Thrust-Reverser Cascades - Engine No. 1.
   (1) Remove the eight bolts (1) and the eight washers (2) that attach the left upper cascade (3) to the torque box and cascade ring.
   (2) Remove the left upper cascade (3) from the thrust reverser half.
   (3) Remove the 22 bolts (1) and the 22 washers (2) that attach the left upper middle cascade (4) to the torque box and cascade ring.
   (4) Remove the left upper middle cascade (4) from the thrust reverser half.
   (5) Remove the 22 bolts (1) and the 22 washers (2) that attach the left lower middle cascade (5) to the torque box and cascade ring.
   (6) Remove the left lower middle cascade (5) from the thrust reverser half.
   (7) Remove the nine bolts (1) and the nine washers (2) that attach the left lower cascade (6) to the torque box and cascade ring.
   (8) Remove the left lower cascade (6) from the thrust reverser half.
