(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Get Access

CAUTION: BEFORE OPENING THE THRUST REVERSER DOORS TO THE 45 DEGREES POSITION MAKE SURE THAT THE SLATS ARE RETRACTED. IF NOT THE SLATS CAN TOUCH THE INBOARD THRUST REVERSER DOOR.

(1) Open the thrust reverser doors to the 45 degrees position (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040).

D. Remove the hinge access panel (5) as follows:

(1) Remove the 12 screws (10) from the hinge access panel (5).
(2) Remove the hinge access panel (5).

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-00-210-116-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

A. Do a detailed visual inspection of the "C" duct hinge fittings and surrounding structure (150 mm around hinge fittings) as follows:

NOTE: Heat shield removal is not necessary for this inspection.

(1) Clean the inspection areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) to remove corrosion, debris, dirt and grease.
(2) Remove the solvent fluid isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) before it becomes dry.
(3) Do a DVI of the "C" Duct hinges and surrounding structure. Use a LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X.
(a) Examine the "C" Duct hinges and 5.9 in. (150 mm) of the adjacent structure from the edges of all hinges. Look for corrosion. Pay special attention to areas where water can accumulate.
1 If you find corrosion, refer to the NSRM 543000 for types, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.

5. Close-up

A. Install the hinge access panel (5) as follows:

(1) Install the hinge access panel (5) and attach with screws (10).
(2) TORQUE the screws (10) to between 45 and 35 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.40 m.daN )

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040):
