Removal of the Pylon TRAS Monitoring Harness

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-31-61-020-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Pylon TRAS Monitoring Harness
CAUTION: USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
   (1) Remove the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1).
     (a) Disconnect the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) connectors (4052VC-A) and (4053VC-A) from the left TRAS monitoring harness with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (b) Remove the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) from the frame (2) and insert (3).
NOTE: Do not remove the pylon TRAS track lock harness from the frame and insert.
     (c) Disconnect the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) connectors (4054VC-A) and (4055VC-A) from the right TRAS monitoring harness with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (d) Remove the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) from the frame (4) and insert (5).
NOTE: Do not remove the pylon TRAS track lock harness from the frame and insert.
     (e) Remove the four bolts (9) and the four washers (8) that attach the two frames (6) to the rear ramp bracket. Remove the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) from the two inserts (7).
NOTE: Do not remove the pylon TRAS track lock harness from the frames and inserts.
     (f) Remove the two screws (12) and the two washers (11) that attach the two clamps (10) and the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) to the pylon brackets. Attach the two track lock clamps and the pylon TRAS track lock harness back to the pylon brackets with the two screws (12) and the two washers (11). Tighten the two screws (12) finger-tight.
NOTE: Do not remove the clamps from the pylon TRAS track lock harness.
       1 Remove the two clamps (10) from the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1).
     (g) Remove the screw (14) and washer (13) that attach the clamp (15) and the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) to the pylon bracket.
       1 Remove the clamp (15) from the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1).
     (h) Remove the screw (16) and washer (17) that attach the clamp (18) and the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) to the pylon bracket.
       1 Remove the clamp (18) from the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1).
     (i) Disconnect the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) connector (445VC-A) from the pylon interface with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (j) Disconnect the harnesses (4089KS) and (4093KS) from the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) connectors (491VC) and (494VC) with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (k) Remove the eight bolts (19) and the eight washers (20) that attach the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) to the pylon TRAS harness disconnect bracket.
     (l) Remove the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) from the two spring clips on the rear ramp bracket.
     (m) Remove the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) from the engine.
   (2) Installation of the protection covers
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
