  • GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THERE IS NO UNWANTED MATERIAL IN THE PORTS AND ORIFICES OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-31-49-860-102-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

C. Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-31-49-420-093-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the HCU Bracket, Hydraulic Line Middle Bracket and Interface Bracket:
   (1) Installation of the HCU bracket:
     (a) Remove the protective covers from the pipe ends.
     (b) Attach the HCU bracket to the hydraulic control unit with the bolts.
     (c) TORQUE the nuts to between 70 and 61 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.69 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Connect the actuator rod supply pipe to the HCU bracket.
     (e) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 410 and 370 lbf.in (4.63 and 4.18 m.daN )
T.
     (f) Connect the actuator head supply pipe to the HCU bracket.
     (g) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 700 and 610 lbf.in (7.91 and 6.89 m.daN )
T.
     (h) Connect the lower blocker door supply pipe to the HCU bracket.
     (i) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 300 and 260 lbf.in (3.39 and 2.94 m.daN )
T.
     (j) Connect the interface hydraulic hoses to the HCU bracket.
     (k) TORQUE the interface hydraulic hose connected to the lower blocker door supply pipe to between 125 and 113 lbf.in (1.41 and 1.28 m.daN )
T.
     (l) TORQUE the interface hydraulic hose connected to the actuator head supply pipe to between 560 and 540 lbf.in (6.33 and 6.10 m.daN )
T.
     (m) TORQUE the interface hydraulic hose connected to the actuator rod supply pipe to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
     (n) Connect the electrical harness to the HCU bracket with the clamp, the bolt and the nut.
     (o) TORQUE the nut to between 40 and 30 lbf.in (0.45 and 0.34 m.daN )
T.
   (2) Installation of the hydraulic line middle bracket:
     (a) Apply a layer of blindexite RT 342-2 (Material No.
CP2318) on the mating surface of the middle bracket.
     (b) Attach the bracket to the forward frame with the bolts and the nuts.
F Interface and Middle Brackets ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (c) TORQUE the nuts to between 70 and 61 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.69 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Connect the rod supply junction pipe to the middle bracket.
     (e) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 410 and 370 lbf.in (4.63 and 4.18 m.daN )
T.
     (f) Connect the head supply junction pipe to the middle bracket.
     (g) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 700 and 610 lbf.in (7.91 and 6.89 m.daN )
T.
     (h) Connect the rod supply pipe to the middle bracket.
     (i) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 260 and 235 lbf.in (2.94 and 2.66 m.daN )
T.
     (j) Connect the head supply pipe to the middle bracket.
     (k) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 500 and 450 lbf.in (5.65 and 5.09 m.daN )
T.
     (l) Attach the upper head shield to the bracket with the upper half clamp, the washer and the bolts.
     (m) TORQUE the bolts to between 30 and 27 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.31 m.daN )
T.
NOTE: Apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) on all nuts and connections after they are torqued.
   (3) Remove the HIX3005 SAFETY SLEEVE - PIVOTING DOOR ACTUATOR without making the thrust reverser operational (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-480-001).
   (4) Installation of the Interface Bracket:
     (a) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the pipe ends.
     (b) Attach the interface bracket to the forward frame with the bolts.
F Interface and Middle Brackets ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (c) TORQUE the bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Connect the rod supply pipe to the interface bracket.
     (e) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 260 and 235 lbf.in (2.94 and 2.66 m.daN )
T.
     (f) Connect the head supply pipe to the interface bracket.
     (g) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 500 and 450 lbf.in (5.65 and 5.09 m.daN )
T.
     (h) Connect the latch return pipe and the upper latch supply pipe to the interface bracket.
     (i) TORQUE the coupling nuts to between 300 and 260 lbf.in (3.39 and 2.94 m.daN )
T.
     (j) Attach the electrical harness to the interface bracket with the clamp, the bolt and the nut.
     (k) TORQUE the nut to between 40 and 30 lbf.in (0.45 and 0.34 m.daN )
