C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

4. Procedure

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Deactivation of the thrust reverser hinge access panel flipper door.

NOTE: This procedure is for the hinge access panel flipper door on the left thrust reverser half. The procedure for the hinge access panel flipper door on the right thrust reverser half is opposite.

(1) Find the opening on the applicable thrust reverser hinge access panel where the flipper door is missing.
(2) Clean the surface of the thrust reverser hinge access panel where you will apply the High Speed Tape (Material No.PU1-0042) . Use a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(3) Cut the High Speed Tape (Material No.PU1-0042) to the correct dimensions for the opening in the thrust reverser hinge access panel SRM 517712.
(4) Apply the High Speed Tape (Material No.PU1-0042) over the opening on the thrust reverser hinge access Panel SRM 517712.
(5) Apply a second layer of the High Speed Tape (Material No.PU1-0042) perpendicular to the first layer SRM 517712.
(6) Make the High Speed Tape (Material No.PU1-0042) smooth on the thrust reverser hinge access panel. Remove the air pockets and push the edges of the High Speed Tape (Material No.PU1-0042) tightly against the hinge access panel SRM 517712.
(7) Make sure that the High Speed Tape (Material No.PU1-0042) is tightly attached to the thrust reverser hinge access panel.

A. Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-805).

B. Close Access
(1) Remove the access platform(s).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
