A. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Flight
(2) Open the double-clamp (3) and remove the translating sleeve lockout pins (2) from the fan case.
(3) Install the screw (1) back on the double-clamp (3).
(4) TORQUE the screw (1) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
.
(5) Remove the two bolts (4) and the lockout cover (5) from the latch beam (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-36-000-801).
(6) Put the translating sleeve lockout pin (2) in the latch beam.
(7) Turn the lockout cover (5) so the lockout pin hole lines up with the translating sleeve lockout pin (2). See Sheet 1 of the figure:
(8) Install the lockout cover (5) on the translating sleeve lockout pin (2) and the latch beam with the two bolts (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-36-400-801).
(10) Put the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) in the inhibited position.
5. Close-upWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU DEACTIVATE THE TWO THRUST REVERSER DOORS ON THE SAME ENGINE FOR FLIGHT. IF ONE THRUST REVERSER DOOR DEPLOYS DURING FLIGHT, INJURY AND/OR DEATH CAN OCCUR.
(1) Remove the screw (1) that attaches the translating sleeve lockout pins (2) in the double-clamp (3). (2) Open the double-clamp (3) and remove the translating sleeve lockout pins (2) from the fan case.

NOTE: The lockout cover (5) will not be flush with the surface of the latch beam. This is the correct configuration. See the figure:
(9) Do steps 4.A.(5) thru 4.A.(8) for the other thrust reverser door on the same engine. (10) Put the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) in the inhibited position.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS IN THE INHIBITED POSITION WHILE THE THRUST REVERSER IS DEACTIVATED FOR FLIGHT. IF THE HCU IS NOT IN THE INHIBITED POSITION, THE TWO TRANSLATING SLEEVES ON THE THRUST REVERSER CAN DEPLOY AND INJURY AND/OR DEATH CAN OCCUR.
(a) Make sure the HCU stays in the inhibited position and the locking pin keeps it in place (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). Subtask 78-30-00-860-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
