Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION:
NEVER BLANK OFF HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) RETURN HOSE AND RELEASE AIRCRAFT (EVEN IF THRUST REVERSER IS DEACTIVATED). THIS ACTION MAY RESULT IN THRUST REVERSER SYSTEM PRESSURIZATION.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-30-00-010-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
Subtask 78-30-00-040-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Thrust Reverser Deactivation.
(a) Make sure the blocker doors are closed and flush with the thrust reverser structure.
(b) Pull the blocker door with your hand to make sure the door cannot open.
(2) Make the Thrust Reverser Unserviceable.
(a) Remove the quick-release pin from the operational position on the HCU (see sheet.1).
(b) Move the inhibit lever from the operational position to the OFF position.
(c) Install the quick-release pin to hold the inhibit lever in the OFF position (see sheet.2).
(3) Do a test of the deploy switches and make sure that they are operative.
(a) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system through the Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-040) and when the throttle control lever is in the reverse position:
(a) Remove the bolts (3) that attach the lockplates (1) to the storage bracket (4).
(b) Remove the lockplates (1) from the storage bracket (4).
(c) Remove the lockout bolts (2) from the storage bracket (4).
(d) Remove the screws (5) that attach the lockout fairings (6) to the blocker doors.
(e) Attach the lockout fairings (6) to the storage bracket (4) with the screws (5).
(f) TORQUE screws (5) to between 0.19 and 0.16 m.daN (16.81 and 14.16 lbf.in )
(g) Install the lockout bolts (2) on the blocker doors.
(h) TORQUE the lockout bolts (2) to between 0.70 and 0.65 m.daN (61.95 and 57.52 lbf.in )

(5) Put the lockplates (1) over the lockout bolts (2) and install the bolts (3).
(6) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.45 and 0.33 m.daN (39.82 and 29.20 lbf.in )
.
Subtask 78-30-00-040-059-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Do a check of the primary lock, as follows: (a) Make sure the blocker doors are closed and flush with the thrust reverser structure.
(b) Pull the blocker door with your hand to make sure the door cannot open.
(2) Make the Thrust Reverser Unserviceable.
(a) Remove the quick-release pin from the operational position on the HCU (see sheet.1).
(b) Move the inhibit lever from the operational position to the OFF position.
(c) Install the quick-release pin to hold the inhibit lever in the OFF position (see sheet.2).
(3) Do a test of the deploy switches and make sure that they are operative.
(a) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system through the Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-040) and when the throttle control lever is in the reverse position:
- check that the green or amber REV indication in the N1 indicator of the engine 1(2) does not appears
- the ECAM warning ENG 1(2) REVERSER FAULT appears
- check the T/R test report:
- "DEPL SW, J5" or "DEPL SW, J6"
- "STOW SW, J5" or "STOW SW, J6"
- "DPLSTW SW, J5/6,ECU" or "DEPL/STOW, J5" or "DEPL/STOW, J6"
- "HCU(TRPV OPEN)" or "HCU(TRPV), HYD"
NOTE: The maintenance messages linked to the fault(s) occurred before the deactivation, can be recorded in this T/R test report.
(4) Deactivation of the thrust reverser. (a) Remove the bolts (3) that attach the lockplates (1) to the storage bracket (4).
(b) Remove the lockplates (1) from the storage bracket (4).
(c) Remove the lockout bolts (2) from the storage bracket (4).
(d) Remove the screws (5) that attach the lockout fairings (6) to the blocker doors.
(e) Attach the lockout fairings (6) to the storage bracket (4) with the screws (5).
(f) TORQUE screws (5) to between 0.19 and 0.16 m.daN (16.81 and 14.16 lbf.in )

(g) Install the lockout bolts (2) on the blocker doors.
(h) TORQUE the lockout bolts (2) to between 0.70 and 0.65 m.daN (61.95 and 57.52 lbf.in )
. (5) Put the lockplates (1) over the lockout bolts (2) and install the bolts (3).
(6) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.45 and 0.33 m.daN (39.82 and 29.20 lbf.in )
. A. Thrust Reverser Deactivation.

Subtask 78-30-00-040-059-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:

(4) Deactivation of the thrust reverser. (a) Remove the bolts (3) that attach the lockplates (1) to the storage bracket (4).
(b) Remove the lockplates (1) from the storage bracket (4).
(c) Remove the lockout bolts (2) from the storage bracket (4).
(d) Remove the screws (5) that attach the lockout fairings (6) to the blocker doors.
(e) Attach the lockout fairings (6) to the storage bracket (4) with the screws (5).
(f) TORQUE screws (5) to between 0.19 and 0.16 m.daN (16.81 and 14.16 lbf.in )

(g) Install the lockout bolts (2) on the blocker doors.
(h) TORQUE the lockout bolts (2) to between 0.70 and 0.65 m.daN (61.95 and 57.52 lbf.in )
. (5) Put the lockplates (1) over the lockout bolts (2) and install the bolts (3).
(6) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.45 and 0.33 m.daN (39.82 and 29.20 lbf.in )

(b) Remove the lockplates (1) from the storage bracket (4).
(c) Remove the lockout bolts (2) from the storage bracket (4).
(d) Remove the screws (5) that attach the lockout fairings (6) to the blocker doors.
(e) Attach the lockout fairings (6) to the storage bracket (4) with the screws (5).
(f) TORQUE screws (5) to between 0.19 and 0.16 m.daN (16.81 and 14.16 lbf.in )

(g) Install the lockout bolts (2) on the blocker doors.
(h) TORQUE the lockout bolts (2) to between 0.70 and 0.65 m.daN (61.95 and 57.52 lbf.in )
. (5) Put the lockplates (1) over the lockout bolts (2) and install the bolts (3).
(6) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.45 and 0.33 m.daN (39.82 and 29.20 lbf.in )
. B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
Subtask 78-30-00-710-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040):

C. Do a FADEC ground test (Engine Non Motoring) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-710-040) and make sure that these fault messages are not in view:

D. Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system through the CFDS (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-040).
(1) Make sure that the ENG1(2) REVERSE UNLOCKED and the ENG1(2) REV PRESSURIZED warnings do not come into view.
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the ENG1(2) REVERSE UNLOCKED and the ENG1(2) REV PRESSURIZED warnings do not come into view.
