Removal of the Common Nozzle Assembly
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION:
THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-11-11-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser.
Subtask 78-11-11-010-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

E. Disconnect the core zone fire detector from the Air Cooled Air Cooler (ACAC) exhaust duct (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-17-000-010).
Subtask 78-11-11-480-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL F. Install the support equipment.
(1) Use the suitable lifting device to put the CNA (1) in position on the IAE1N20001 FIXTURE-COMMON NOZZLE ASSEMBLY (2).
4. Procedure(1) Use the suitable lifting device to put the CNA (1) in position on the IAE1N20001 FIXTURE-COMMON NOZZLE ASSEMBLY (2).
NOTE: You can use an equivalent tool.
(2) Attach the common nozzle fixture to the CNA with the fixture straps. NOTE: The CNA is removed from the engine flange only after attaching the fixture straps, refer to Para. 4.B.
(3) Put the IAE1N20004 DOLLY-COMMON NOZZLE ASSEMBLY (3) in position at the rear of the engine. NOTE: You can use an equivalent tool.
Subtask 78-11-11-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the lower segment of the ACAC exhaust duct
(1) Remove the four bolts (30) that attach the housing (31) to the CNA (1).
(2) Remove the coupling (35) and the seal (34) that attach the ACAC exhaust duct lower segment (32) to the upper segment (33). Discard the seal (34).
(3) Remove the ACAC exhaust duct lower segment (32) with the housing (31).
Subtask 78-11-11-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the four bolts (30) that attach the housing (31) to the CNA (1).
(2) Remove the coupling (35) and the seal (34) that attach the ACAC exhaust duct lower segment (32) to the upper segment (33). Discard the seal (34).
(3) Remove the ACAC exhaust duct lower segment (32) with the housing (31).
B. Remove the CNA.
(1) Remove the bolts (5) and washers (4) or the bolts (22), washers (21), and nuts (20) which attach the CNA (1) to the engine flange.
(2) Carefully remove the CNA from the rear of the engine. Make sure that you do not touch the exhaust cone (6).
(3) Lower the CNA into the IAE1N20001 FIXTURE-COMMON NOZZLE ASSEMBLY and secure it with the fixture straps, on to the IAE1N20004 DOLLY-COMMON NOZZLE ASSEMBLY.
(1) Remove the bolts (5) and washers (4) or the bolts (22), washers (21), and nuts (20) which attach the CNA (1) to the engine flange.
(2) Carefully remove the CNA from the rear of the engine. Make sure that you do not touch the exhaust cone (6).
(3) Lower the CNA into the IAE1N20001 FIXTURE-COMMON NOZZLE ASSEMBLY and secure it with the fixture straps, on to the IAE1N20004 DOLLY-COMMON NOZZLE ASSEMBLY.
