Removal of the Core Fire Detectors
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

B. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE/CRANK/NORM/IGN/START selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 26-12-17-865-087-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:

E. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 26-12-17-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). F. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

A. Removal of the Core Fire Detectors

(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors 4001WD1-A and 4001WD2-A
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (9) and (10) from the responders (11).
(b) Put CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors and the electrical receptacles.
(2) Remove the fire detector assembly
(a) Remove the nuts (36), the washers (39) and the bolts (38) from the three clips (37) at position F.
(b) Remove the nut (32), the washer (35) and the bolt (34) from the clip (33) at position E.
(c) Remove the nut (21), the washer (22) and the bolt (23) from the clip (24) at position C.
(d) Disconnect the clip at position D
1 Make a note of the position of the nut (28), the washer (29), the spacer (26), the bolt (25) and the clip (27).
2 Remove the nut (28), the washer (29), the spacer (26) and the bolt (25).
(e) Remove the nuts (6), the washers (7) and the bolts (8) from the responder supports at position G.
(f) Remove the support tube (13) with the elements (12) attached.
(g) Remove the clips (24), (27), (33) and (37) from the support tube (13).

(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors 4001WD1-A and 4001WD2-A
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (9) and (10) from the responders (11).
(b) Put CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors and the electrical receptacles.
(2) Remove the fire detector assembly
(a) Remove the nuts (36), the washers (39) and the bolts (38) from the three clips (37) at position F.
(b) Remove the nut (32), the washer (35) and the bolt (34) from the clip (33) at position E.
(c) Remove the nut (21), the washer (22) and the bolt (23) from the clip (24) at position C.
(d) Disconnect the clip at position D
1 Make a note of the position of the nut (28), the washer (29), the spacer (26), the bolt (25) and the clip (27).
2 Remove the nut (28), the washer (29), the spacer (26) and the bolt (25).
(e) Remove the nuts (6), the washers (7) and the bolts (8) from the responder supports at position G.
(f) Remove the support tube (13) with the elements (12) attached.
(g) Remove the clips (24), (27), (33) and (37) from the support tube (13).
B. Removal of the Core Fire Detectors

(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors 4001WD1-A and 4001WD2-A
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors from the responders.
(b) Put CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors and the electrical receptacles.
(2) Remove the fire detector assembly
(a) Remove the nuts (36), the washers (39) and the bolts (38) from the three clips (37) at position F.
(b) Remove the nut (32), the washer (35) and the bolt (34) from the clip (33) at position E.
(c) Disconnect the clip at position D.
1 Make a note of the position of the nut (28), the washer (29), the clip (27), the spacer (26) and the bolt (25).
2 Remove the nut (28), the washer (29), the spacer (26) and the bolt (25).
(d) Remove the nuts (6), the washers (7) and the bolts (8) that attach the responder supports to the bracket (14) at position G.
(e) Remove the support tube (13) with the elements (12) attached.
(f) Remove the clips (27), (33) and (37) from the support tube (13).

(e) Remove the support tube (13) with the elements (12) attached.
(f) Remove the clips (27), (33) and (37) from the support tube (13).

(e) Remove the support tube (13) with the elements (12) attached.
(f) Remove the clips (27), (33) and (37) from the support tube (13).

(e) Remove the support tube (13) with the elements (12) attached.

Remove the nuts (6), the washers (7), and the bolts (8) that attach the responder support tube to the fire detection bracket (14) at position G.
(e) Remove the support tube (13) with the elements (12) attached.
(f) Remove the clips (27), (33) and (37) from the support tube (13).
E. Removal of the Core Fire Detector Elements
(1) Remove the screws (40), the nuts (42) and the washers (41) that attach the responder clamps (43) and bracket (47) to the support tube (13).
(2) Loosen all the sensor clamps (44) and remove the clamp tops and the screws.
(4) Remove the sensor elements (12) from the support tube (13).
(1) Remove the screws (40), the nuts (42) and the washers (41) that attach the responder clamps (43) and bracket (47) to the support tube (13).
(2) Loosen all the sensor clamps (44) and remove the clamp tops and the screws.
NOTE: Keep the clamp tops and the screws.
(3) Remove the liners (45) and (46). (4) Remove the sensor elements (12) from the support tube (13).
