A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-10-00-010-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 78-10-00-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the Thrust Reverser Halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

E. Clean Components
(1) Clean the mixed exhaust system components which follow with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist withV01-002 cleaning fluid (trichloroethane, inhibited and stabilized)
(a) Pen nib fairing (CN17).
(b) Acoustic panel (CN5b).
(c) Side support struts (CN7).
(d) Lower support strut (CN3).
(e) Forward attach ring (CN1).
(f) Engine exhaust cone (CN9, CN12).
(g) Inco jet pipe (CN10).
4. Procedure(1) Clean the mixed exhaust system components which follow with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with
(a) Pen nib fairing (CN17).
(b) Acoustic panel (CN5b).
(c) Side support struts (CN7).
(d) Lower support strut (CN3).
(e) Forward attach ring (CN1).
(f) Engine exhaust cone (CN9, CN12).
(g) Inco jet pipe (CN10).

A. Examine the Mixed Exhaust System
(1) Examine the forward attach ring (CN1) for any obvious damage.
(a) Cracks, gouge, nick and scratch:
1 Refer toNSRM 544000 , Common Nozzle Assembly (CNA) and exhaust cone allowable damage, paragraph 3.B., table 101.
(b) Loose or missing rivet and missing nut plate:
1 Loose or missing rivet and missing nut plate - not allowed.
(2) Examine the inner annulus outer skin (CN2) for any obvious damage.
(a) Dent, gouge, nick, scratch and crack:
1 Refer toNSRM 544000 , Common Nozzle Assembly (CNA) and exhaust cone allowable damage, paragraph 3.B., table 101.
(b) Loose or missing rivet and missing nut plate:
1 Loose or missing rivet and missing nut plate - not allowed.
(3) Examine the lower strut (CN3) for any obvious damage.
(a) Dent, gouge, nick, scratch and crack:
1 Refer toNSRM 544000 , Common Nozzle Assembly (CNA) and exhaust cone allowable damage, paragraph 3.B., table 101.
(4) Examine the upper strut (CN4) for any obvious damage.
(a) Dent, gouge, nick, scratch and crack:
1 Refer toNSRM 544000 , Common Nozzle Assembly (CNA) and exhaust cone allowable damage, paragraph 3.B., table 101.
(5) Examine the outer barrel-outer solid skin (CN5a) for obvious damage.
(a) Dent, gouge, nick, scratch, disbond, lighting strike and crack:
1 Refer toNSRM 544000 , Common Nozzle Assembly (CNA) and exhaust cone allowable damage, paragraph 3.B., table 101.
(6) Examine the outer barrel-inner perforated skin (CN5b1 and CN5b2) for obvious damage.
(a) Dent, gouge, nick, scratch, disbond and crack:
1 Refer toNSRM 544000 , Common Nozzle Assembly (CNA) and exhaust cone allowable damage, paragraph 3.B., table 101.
(7) Examine the vectored exit nozzle inner skin (CN6) and outer skin (CN8) for obvious damage.
(a) Dent, gouge, nick, scratch, lighting strike and crack:
1 Refer toNSRM 544000 , Common Nozzle Assembly (CNA) and exhaust cone allowable damage, paragraph 3.B., table 101.
(b) Loose or missing rivet:
1 Refer toNSRM 544000 , Common Nozzle Assembly (CNA) and exhaust cone allowable damage, paragraph 3.C.(2).
(8) Examine the side struts (CN7) for any obvious damage.
(a) Dent, gouge, nick, scratch and crack:

(9) Examine the tail cone (CN9 and CN12) for any obvious damage.
