Removal of the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Harness and Junction Box (PRE SB 77-0015 and POST SB 77-0015)
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 77-21-43-010-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.

C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 77-21-43-010-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust-reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
451AL, 452AR.
(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
461AL, 462AR.
4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
451AL, 452AR.
(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
461AL, 462AR.
Subtask 77-21-43-020-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Disconnection of the Core EGT Harness from the High Pressure Compressor (HPC)
(2) Remove four clips from positions 6086, 6085, 5553 and 5552 (Ref. AMM TASK 77-21-43-000-804).
(3) Remove the bolts, the washers, the clamps and the nuts at ten clip positions 5551, 5211, 5529, 5550, 5527, 5549, 6052, 6051, 6053 and 6054 (Ref. AMM TASK 77-21-43-000-804).
(4) Remove the bolts, the washers and the nuts at three clip positions 5523, 6055 and 5734 (Ref. AMM TASK 77-21-43-000-804).
(5) Disconnect the core EGT harness from the junction box.
EGT Harness at the Flange T and the Flange P Bracket Locations (PRE SBE 77-0015) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
1 Remove the cover (121).
(b) Remove the four nuts (122) that attach the core EGT harness to the junction box terminals.
(c) Remove the harness lugs from the junction box terminals.
(d) Install the nuts (122) back on the junction box terminals.
(6) Connect the core EGT harness to the junction box.
EGT Harness at the Flange T and the Flange P Bracket Locations (PRE SBE 77-0015) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Remove the nuts (122) from the junction box terminals.
(b) Connect the harness lugs to the junction box terminals.
(c) Install the four nuts (122) to attach the core EGT harness to the junction box terminals.
(d) Install the screws (120) to attach the junction box cover (121).
Subtask 77-21-43-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: Bolts, nuts and all clips removed during the removal will be required for the installation.
(1) Disconnect electrical connector 4007VC-A from electrical receptacle 4007VC (Ref. AMM TASK 77-21-43-000-804).(2) Remove four clips from positions 6086, 6085, 5553 and 5552 (Ref. AMM TASK 77-21-43-000-804).
(3) Remove the bolts, the washers, the clamps and the nuts at ten clip positions 5551, 5211, 5529, 5550, 5527, 5549, 6052, 6051, 6053 and 6054 (Ref. AMM TASK 77-21-43-000-804).
(4) Remove the bolts, the washers and the nuts at three clip positions 5523, 6055 and 5734 (Ref. AMM TASK 77-21-43-000-804).
(5) Disconnect the core EGT harness from the junction box.
EGT Harness at the Flange T and the Flange P Bracket Locations (PRE SBE 77-0015) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Remove the lockwire and the screws (120) which attach the junction box cover (121).1 Remove the cover (121).
(b) Remove the four nuts (122) that attach the core EGT harness to the junction box terminals.
(c) Remove the harness lugs from the junction box terminals.
(d) Install the nuts (122) back on the junction box terminals.
(6) Connect the core EGT harness to the junction box.
EGT Harness at the Flange T and the Flange P Bracket Locations (PRE SBE 77-0015) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (b) Connect the harness lugs to the junction box terminals.
(c) Install the four nuts (122) to attach the core EGT harness to the junction box terminals.
(d) Install the screws (120) to attach the junction box cover (121).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(e) Safety the screws (120) with the lockwire (Material No.V02-127) .B. Removal of the EGT Harness and Junction Box
PRE SBE 77-0015
(1) Remove the parts which connect the EGT harness to the thermocouples.
(a) Remove the four nuts, two of each (100) and (102) and washers, two of each (101) and (103) which attach the harness lugs to the thermocouple connections.
(b) Remove the harness lugs from the thermocouple.
(c) Install the washers and nuts back on the thermocouple connections.
(d) Do these steps at the four thermocouples locations.
(2) Disconnect the harness at the Flange T and the Flange P bracket locations.

(a) Remove the nuts (107) which attach the harness clamps to the brackets (108) on Flange T.
(b) Remove the bolts (106), (112), (127) and (128) and the nuts (104), (114), (125) and (130) which attach the harness clamps to the brackets (105), (113), (126) and (129) on Flange P.
(c) Remove the bolts (115) which attach the harness clamps to the bracket (116) on the case boss at the bottom of the case.
(d) Remove the bolts (110) and the nuts (109) which attach the harness clamps to the clamps (111) on the P4.9 manifold.
(3) Remove the EGT harness and junction box assembly from the engine.
EGT Harness at the Flange T and the Flange P Bracket Locations (PRE SBE 77-0015) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(a) Remove the bolts (119) and the nuts (117) which hold the junction box to the bracket (124).
(b) Remove the EGT harness and junction box assembly from the engine.

(1) Remove the parts which connect the EGT harness to the thermocouples.
(a) Remove the four nuts, two of each (100) and (102) and washers, two of each (101) and (103) which attach the harness lugs to the thermocouple connections.
(b) Remove the harness lugs from the thermocouple.
(c) Install the washers and nuts back on the thermocouple connections.
(d) Do these steps at the four thermocouples locations.
(2) Disconnect the harness at the Flange T and the Flange P bracket locations.

(c) Remove the bolts (115) which attach the harness clamps to the bracket (116) on the case boss at the bottom of the case.
(d) Remove the bolts (110) and the nuts (109) which attach the harness clamps to the clamps (111) on the P4.9 manifold.
(3) Remove the EGT harness and junction box assembly from the engine.
