C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

4. Procedure

CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE THERMAL INSULATION BLANKETS BECOME WET. FLUIDS CAN GO INTO THE VENT HOLES OF THE BLANKETS AND MAKE THE INSULATION UNSATISFACTORY.

CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE THERMAL INSULATION BLANKETS. IF YOU DO NOT HOLD THE BLANKETS CORRECTLY, THEY CAN FOLD BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN WEIGHT. DO NOT STEP ON OR PUT OBJECTS ON THE BLANKETS. DO NOT PUT THE BLANKETS ON SURFACES THAT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE. HOLD THE BLANKETS ON THEIR THICKEST PARTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE BLANKETS CAN OCCUR.

A. Removal of the ACC Heat Shield Blankets
(1) Remove the four retainers (1) that attach the upper ACC shield blanket (3) and the lower ACC shield blanket (2) to the ACC duct.
(2) Remove the lower ACC shield blanket (2) and the upper ACC shield blanket (3) from the ACC duct.
