Removal of the Right Ignition Lead [CFMI]

TASK 74-21-10-000-001-A
Removal of the Right Ignition Lead

WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE IGNITION SYSTEM, MAKE SURE THAT THE IGNITION EXCITERS ARE DE-ENERGIZED FOR A MINIMUM OF FIVE MINUTES. ALSO DO NOT TOUCH THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS. THE IGNITION SYSTEM VOLTAGE IS VERY HIGH, AND THE IGNITION EXCITERS CAN HAVE AN ELECTRICAL CHARGE EVEN WHEN NOT ENERGIZED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WITH THE IGNITION LEAD TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CONDUIT AND THE INTERNAL WIRES.

4. Procedure
Subtask 74-21-10-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Right Ignition Lead
   (1) Disconnect the ignition lead from the aft side of the upper ignition exciter on the fan inlet case.
   (2) Put CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected electrical connectors.
   (3) Remove the ignition lead from the clamps on the core engine.
   (4) Remove the shroud clamp and the cooling shroud from the igniter end of the ignition lead.
   (5) Loosen the coupling nut and remove the ignition lead.
CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU LOOSEN THE COUPLING NUT OF THE IGNITION LEAD. IF NOT YOU CAN DAMAGE THE ADJACENT TUBING.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FIRST HINGE-TYPE CLAMP IS RELEASED BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE IGNITION LEAD FROM THE SPARK IGNITER. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CERAMIC TIP ON THE IGNITER END OF THE IGNITION LEAD.
     (a) Loosen the coupling nut and remove the ignition lead from the spark igniter. Pull the ignition lead straight out (no side loading) until free from the spark igniter.

PRE SB 74-003

   (6) Remove and discard the white chamfered silicone seal.

POST SB 74-003

   (7) Remove and dicard the blue symmetrical silicone seal.

END OF SB 74-003

   (8) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (9) Remove the ignition lead from the clamps which attach the ignition lead to the fan frame and from the clip at the top of the junction box.
   (10) Remove the bolt and retaining plate which attach the ignition lead to the air inlet assembly.
   (11) Remove the strut fairings, from both sides of the tube bundle (6 o'clock position) for access to the clamps.
   (12) Remove the ignition lead from the clamps which hold the ignition leads at the 6 o'clock strut.
   (13) Remove the ignition lead.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE IGNITION LEAD FROM THE STRUT BECAUSE THE IGNITION LEAD COULD BECOME DAMAGED.
     (a) Carefully pull the ignition lead aft at the 6 o'clock strut. Continue to move the ignition lead aft until it is through the 6 o'clock strut.
   (14) Remove and discard the two 0-rings (20) from the ignition lead.
