3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-21-40-941-057-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-40-020-053-A
A. Removal of the PMA Rotor
   (1) Remove the PMA stator (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-40-000-802).
   (2) Do a check of the hand-cranking driver to make sure that the gear shaft tangs are correctly aligned with their socket slots. If a misalignment is observed, please contact CFM.
   (3) Remove the manual control cover (5) of the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-03-000-801).
   (4) Install the 956A7613 ADAPTER, LOCK - CORE ENGINE or DRIVE 3/4 IN - HEXAGONAL in the AGB manual-control-cover drive-pad (6) to prevent turning of the AGB gearshaft (4).
     (a) Attach the 956A7613 ADAPTER, LOCK - CORE ENGINE to the AGB manual-control-cover drive-pad (6) with its bolts.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE PERMANENT MAGNET ALTERNATOR (PMA) ROTOR NUT. THE ROTOR NUT HAS A LEFT THREAD. IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE, DAMAGE TO THE ROTOR NUT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: TO REMOVE THE LOCKNUT: - USE A TORQUE WRENCH WITH A 6-POINT SOCKET, AND - MAKE SURE THAT YOU APPLY A CONTINUOUS FORWARD PRESSURE ON THE SOCKET. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, DAMAGE TO THE NUT AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
   (5) Remove the nut (3) that attaches the PMA rotor (1) to the AGB gearshaft.
   (6) Remove the PMA rotor (1) from the AGB gearshaft (4).
   (7) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and the disconnected connectors.
