1. Reason for the Job
This TASK is applicable for DAC Engines.
This task is only applicable for engines that have the burner selection valve (BSV) system installed (CFM56-5B SB 73-0112 and CFM56-5B SB 73-0114). Service Bulletins deleted the BSV system.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-11-70-860-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).

C. Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
4. Procedure
Subtask 73-11-70-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Burner Selection Valve (BSV)
   (1) Remove the protective plug from the drain port of the BSV.
   (2) Install a AIPC 73-11-70-01-090 O-RING (130) lubricated with vaseline (Material No.CP2854) on the drain plug (140).
   (3) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the threads and friction surfaces of the drain plug (140).
   (4) Install the drain plug (140) in the drain port of the BSV (120). TORQUE the drain plug (140) to between 147.5 and 137.5 lbf.in (1.67 and 1.55 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Remove the protective covers from the BSV (120) and the manifolds and tubes (60, 80, 190, 220).
   (6) Apply a thin layer graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolts (50, 40, 200, 160).
   (7) Install the BSV (120) on the brackets (10, 210, 150) with bolts (50, 40, 200, 160). TORQUE the bolts (50, 40, 200, 160) to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN ) T.
   (8) Install a serviceable
AIPC 73-11-70-01-070 GASKET (250) between the PCR fuel tube (220) and the BSV (120).
   (9) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolts (260).
   (10) Install the bolts (260) that attach the PCR fuel tube (220) to the BSV (120). TORQUE the bolts (260) to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN ) T.
   (11) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolts (230).
   (12) Install the bolts (230) that attach the bracket (240) to the BSV (120). TORQUE the bolts (230) to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN ) T.
   (13) Install a serviceable
AIPC 73-11-70-01-040 GASKET (170) between the fuel supply manifold (190) and the BSV (120).
   (14) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolts (180).
   (15) Install the bolts (180) that attach the fuel supply manifold (190) to the BSV (120). TORQUE the bolts (180) to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN ) T.
   (16) Install a serviceable
AIPC 73-11-70-01-060 GASKET (100) between the fuel supply tube (80) and the BSV (120).
   (17) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolts (90).
   (18) Install the bolts (90) that attach the fuel supply tube (80) to the BSV (120). TORQUE the bolts (90) to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN ) T.
   (19) Install a serviceable
AIPC 73-11-70-01-050 GASKET (110) between the signal manifold (60) and the BSV (120).
   (20) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolts (70).
   (21) Install the bolts (70) that attach the signal manifold (60) to the BSV (120). TORQUE the bolts (70) to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN ) T.
   (22) Remove the protective caps from the electrical connectors.
   (23) Connect the electrical connectors, Channel A (30) and Channel B (20), to the BSV (120). Tighten the connectors by hand, plus one-eighth of a turn.
   (24) Perform a minimum idle leak check (
Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006) and check on CFDS if no fault is present concerning the BSV.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040).

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
