A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 72-38-25-010-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 72-38-25-010-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

Subtask 72-38-25-020-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove existing Side Seal(s)
(1) Use a KNIFE - SHARP to cut through the existing sealant at the interface between 'U' shaped seal and the left and/or right side seals as required. Care must be taken not to damage 'U' shaped seal or bung at each end of 'U' shaped seal.
(2) Carefully remove the existing left and/or right side seal(s) from between the bifurcation panel and the seal clips by pulling from one end and working towards the other until the seal(s) are free. Discard the removed item(s).
(3) Remove applicable seal clips (P/Ns 6A 7931 and/or 6A 7932 and 6A 7933) from the side(s) to be repaired. Discard the removed items.
Subtask 72-38-25-020-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Use a KNIFE - SHARP to cut through the existing sealant at the interface between 'U' shaped seal and the left and/or right side seals as required. Care must be taken not to damage 'U' shaped seal or bung at each end of 'U' shaped seal.
(2) Carefully remove the existing left and/or right side seal(s) from between the bifurcation panel and the seal clips by pulling from one end and working towards the other until the seal(s) are free. Discard the removed item(s).
(3) Remove applicable seal clips (P/Ns 6A 7931 and/or 6A 7932 and 6A 7933) from the side(s) to be repaired. Discard the removed items.
B. Remove Sealant from Bung(s) and 'U' Shaped Seal
(1) Carefully remove the sealant from bung(s) at end of 'U' shaped seal. Care must be taken not to damage bung(s) at end of 'U' shaped seal.
(2) Carefully remove all remaining traces of sealant with garnet paper (Material No.V05-016) .
(3) Clean mating surface(s) at end(s) of 'U' shaped seal with a lint-free cotton textile Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist withV01-031 Acetone, Technical grade .
Subtask 72-38-25-350-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Carefully remove the sealant from bung(s) at end of 'U' shaped seal. Care must be taken not to damage bung(s) at end of 'U' shaped seal.
(2) Carefully remove all remaining traces of sealant with garnet paper (Material No.V05-016) .
(3) Clean mating surface(s) at end(s) of 'U' shaped seal with a lint-free cotton textile Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with
C. Fit Replacement Side Seal(s)
(1) Cut and trim replacement side seal(s) (P/N ARM1315 and/or ARM1316) as necessary, to correct length in order to fit required position(s) on the panel.
(3) Apply cold curing silicone (Material No.V08-013) to correct end for LH and/or RH side seal(s).
(4) Attach side seal(s) to bung(s) on 'U' shaped seal ensuring a neat and flush fit is achieved. Use standard workshop equipment.
(6) Remove any excess of sealant compound from the area of the joint(s) with a lint-free cotton textile Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist withV01-031 Acetone, Technical grade .
Subtask 72-38-25-350-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Cut and trim replacement side seal(s) (P/N ARM1315 and/or ARM1316) as necessary, to correct length in order to fit required position(s) on the panel.
NOTE: It is only permissible to cut the side seal(s) by a maximum of 6 mm (0.236 in.).
NOTE: Make sure that the side seal(s) fit flush with the 'U' shaped seal. No seal fibres should be exposed at this joint when the repair has been completed.
NOTE: Care must be taken to make sure that side seal(s) fit flush at the No.6 strut fairing panel.
(2) Apply cold curing silicone (Material No.V08-013) to end of 'U' shaped seal and bung(s) at end of 'U' shaped seal. (3) Apply cold curing silicone (Material No.V08-013) to correct end for LH and/or RH side seal(s).
(4) Attach side seal(s) to bung(s) on 'U' shaped seal ensuring a neat and flush fit is achieved. Use standard workshop equipment.
NOTE: The gap on the joint between 'U' shaped seal and side seal(s) must be less than 1.5 mm (0.059 in.).
(5) Position side seal(s) in place along the panel. (6) Remove any excess of sealant compound from the area of the joint(s) with a lint-free cotton textile Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with
D. Fit Replacement Seal Clips
(1) Fit replacement seal clips in the correct positions on bifurcation panel and over side seal lip. Make sure that replacement clips are pushed down firmly and clip tang engages into tang slot. Tang will audibly click as it engages.
V01-031 Acetone, Technical grade . Silicone must be smooth and flush with the contour of the seal.
(3) Cure silicone compound at 61 deg.F (16 deg.C) for 12 hours.
Subtask 72-38-25-220-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Fit replacement seal clips in the correct positions on bifurcation panel and over side seal lip. Make sure that replacement clips are pushed down firmly and clip tang engages into tang slot. Tang will audibly click as it engages.
NOTE: Care must be taken to make sure that a minimum gap is maintained between the seal clip(s) LH and/or RH and the seal clip (straight).
(2) Remove any excess of sealant compound from area of repair with a lint-free cotton textile Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with (3) Cure silicone compound at 61 deg.F (16 deg.C) for 12 hours.
NOTE: Once repair is completed, parts can be touched after 2 hours. TRU doors can be closed after 4 hours, however, TRU doors must be reopened and the seal joints examined after 12 hours. If any cracking or separation has occurred at the joints, repair must be repeated.
E. Visually and Dimensionally Examine the Repair
(1) Dimensionally examine gap at joint between side seal(s) and 'U' shaped seal. Joint gap must not exceed 1.5 mm (0.059 in.). Use standard workshop equipment.
(2) Visually examine the silicone compound on the repair area. No holes or splits should be seen at the joints. Repair area must be smooth and flush with the seal contour. Make sure that there are no open gas paths at joint between side seal(s) and 'U' shaped seal.
(3) Visually examine the side seal clips and make sure that a minimum gap is achieved between the side seal clip(s) LH and/or RH and the seal clip (straight).
Subtask 72-38-25-350-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Dimensionally examine gap at joint between side seal(s) and 'U' shaped seal. Joint gap must not exceed 1.5 mm (0.059 in.). Use standard workshop equipment.
(2) Visually examine the silicone compound on the repair area. No holes or splits should be seen at the joints. Repair area must be smooth and flush with the seal contour. Make sure that there are no open gas paths at joint between side seal(s) and 'U' shaped seal.
(3) Visually examine the side seal clips and make sure that a minimum gap is achieved between the side seal clip(s) LH and/or RH and the seal clip (straight).
F. Identify the Repair
(1) Use a VIBRO ENGRAVER to make a mark VRS6536 adjacent to existing Part Number.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-410-010):
