A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 72-32-87-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:

(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 72-32-87-010-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

A. Drill Stop Holes at the Ends of the Crack
Subtask 72-32-87-110-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL THAT YOU DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FAN CASE INNER WALL WHEN YOU DRILL THE STOP HOLES.
(1) Use a 0.125 in. (3.17 mm) MACHINE - DRILLING to drill stop holes at both ends of each crack. B. Clean the Damaged Area
(1) Hand clean the damaged area with garnet paper (Material No.V05-017) or garnet paper (Material No.V05-016) .
(2) Prepare the cleaning solvent (Material No.V01-348) . Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(3) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning solvent (Material No.V01-348) , to clean the repair area.
(4) Wipe the repair area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with distilled water.
Subtask 72-32-87-350-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Hand clean the damaged area with garnet paper (Material No.V05-017) or garnet paper (Material No.V05-016) .
(2) Prepare the cleaning solvent (Material No.V01-348) . Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(3) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning solvent (Material No.V01-348) , to clean the repair area.
(4) Wipe the repair area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with distilled water.
C. Prepare the Bond Patches
(1) Find the three sizes of the bond patches for each crack.
(2) Cut the bond patches to the correct sizes from the fiberglass cloth (Material No.V08-049) .
Subtask 72-32-87-350-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Find the three sizes of the bond patches for each crack.
(2) Cut the bond patches to the correct sizes from the fiberglass cloth (Material No.V08-049) .
NOTE: The sizes of the three bond patches for each crack are different.
NOTE: All three patches are installed on each repair area.
D. Prepare the Resin Mixture
(1) Measure 100 parts of the resin (Material No.V08-048) by weight. Measure 10 to 12 parts of the hardener (Material No.V08-047) by weight.
(2) Put 3.5 oz (100 g) of resin (Material No.V08-048) in to a container. Add between 0.35 oz (10 g) and 0.42 oz (12 g) of hardener (Material No.V08-047) and mix them with a SPATULA - NON METALLIC.
Subtask 72-32-87-350-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Measure 100 parts of the resin (Material No.V08-048) by weight. Measure 10 to 12 parts of the hardener (Material No.V08-047) by weight.
(2) Put 3.5 oz (100 g) of resin (Material No.V08-048) in to a container. Add between 0.35 oz (10 g) and 0.42 oz (12 g) of hardener (Material No.V08-047) and mix them with a SPATULA - NON METALLIC.
NOTE: When mixed the life of the resin mixture is approximately one hour at room temperature.
NOTE: It is recommended that the quantity of the mixture that you make each time is approximately 2.03 oz (100 g).
E. Apply the resin mixture on to the repair area and the three bond patches.
(1) Use the brush (Material No.V02-018) to apply the resin mixture to the damage holes, the cracks, the stop holes and the surface to which the bond patches will be installed.
(2) Use the brush (Material No.V02-018) to apply the resin mixture to both surfaces of each of the bond patches.
(3) Remove all unwanted resin mixture and make the surfaces smooth.
Subtask 72-32-87-350-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Use the brush (Material No.V02-018) to apply the resin mixture to the damage holes, the cracks, the stop holes and the surface to which the bond patches will be installed.
(2) Use the brush (Material No.V02-018) to apply the resin mixture to both surfaces of each of the bond patches.
(3) Remove all unwanted resin mixture and make the surfaces smooth.
F. Install the bond patches on the repair area
(1) Install the first bond patch (smallest size) on the repair area to cover all the damaged area.
(2) Install the second bond patch (middle size) on the repair area to cover the first bond patch.
(3) Install the third bond patch (largest size) on the repair area to cover the second bond patch.
(4) Use the GUN - HOT AIR to cure the bond patches for three hours at between 131 deg.F (55 deg.C) and 149 deg.F (65 deg.C) .
Subtask 72-32-87-210-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the first bond patch (smallest size) on the repair area to cover all the damaged area.
(2) Install the second bond patch (middle size) on the repair area to cover the first bond patch.
(3) Install the third bond patch (largest size) on the repair area to cover the second bond patch.
(4) Use the GUN - HOT AIR to cure the bond patches for three hours at between 131 deg.F (55 deg.C) and 149 deg.F (65 deg.C) .
G. Examine the repair area to make sure that the bonds are satisfactory.
