A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine shutdown occurred five minutes or more before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 72-32-85-010-128-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser HCU (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

E. Put the support equipment in position:
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position to get access to the engine.
(2) Put the MAT - WORK in position in the fan case cowl.
(a) Make sure that you can see the red warning flags of the MAT - WORK from the outside of the aircraft.
(b) Make sure that the MAT - WORK has sufficient dimensions to give a full protection to the surface of the lower half of the fan case.
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position to get access to the engine.
(2) Put the MAT - WORK in position in the fan case cowl.
(a) Make sure that you can see the red warning flags of the MAT - WORK from the outside of the aircraft.
(b) Make sure that the MAT - WORK has sufficient dimensions to give a full protection to the surface of the lower half of the fan case.
Subtask 72-32-85-320-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Repair of the Damage on the V-Groove of the Fan Case
(1) Blend to remove the damage on the V-groove of the fan case. Use the MACHINE - GRINDING, PORTABLE, waterproof silicon carbide (Material No.V05-020) and Waterproof silicon carbide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-021) . Remove the minimum quantity of material necessary to remove the damage.
(2) Make the repaired area smooth and polish it. Use Waterproof silicon carbide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-021) . The surface finish on the repaired area must be same as that of the adjacent area.
Subtask 72-32-85-210-145-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Blend to remove the damage on the V-groove of the fan case. Use the MACHINE - GRINDING, PORTABLE, waterproof silicon carbide (Material No.V05-020) and Waterproof silicon carbide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-021) . Remove the minimum quantity of material necessary to remove the damage.
(2) Make the repaired area smooth and polish it. Use Waterproof silicon carbide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-021) . The surface finish on the repaired area must be same as that of the adjacent area.
B. Visual Inspection of the Repaired Area
(1) Use a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X. Nicks, dents, pits, scratches, burrs and galls are not permitted.

C. Penetrant Crack Test on the Repaired Area (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-05-230-010)
(1) Use Fluorescent penetrant (Material No.V06-064) . Make sure that there are no cracks on the repaired area.
5. Close-up(1) Use Fluorescent penetrant (Material No.V06-064) . Make sure that there are no cracks on the repaired area.

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the MAT - WORK.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
