A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is OFF.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

(4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-32-00-210-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Inspection/Check of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) Front Stator Assembly Actuation Rings

Compressor Front-Stator-Assembly - Actuation Ring Inspection ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Do these steps to do a visual inspection of the upper and lower Inlet Guide Vane (IGV) actuation rings. Use a 856A1321 FIBERSCOPE SET and the 856A1322 BORESCOPE-LIGHT SOURCE SET.
(a) Do these steps to prepare the 856A1321 FIBERSCOPE SET for the inspection.
1 Connect the 856A1322 BORESCOPE-LIGHT SOURCE SET to a 110 Volt AC 60 Hz ground power source and connect the ground.
2 Connect the 856A1321 FIBERSCOPE SET to the 856A1322 BORESCOPE-LIGHT SOURCE SET.
3 Turn the light source to ON.
(b) Do an inspection of the area between the end of the connecting link and the first rub button at the 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock positions, aft looking forward.
(c) Do the inspection on all sides of the IGV actuation ring.

Compressor Front-Stator-Assembly - Actuation Ring Inspection ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

1 Use the serviceable limits of the actuation rings to do the inspection (Ref. AMM TASK 72-32-00-210-002).

NOTE: It is possible that the full inspection of the outboard side of the actuation ring cannot be accomplished because of minimal clearance with the Variable Stator Vane (VSV) support plate.

5. Close-up

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the thrust reverser doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040).
