A. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
(2) Put the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or MAT - PROTECTIVE in the intake cowl.

Subtask 72-11-01-960-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Replacement of the Inlet-Cone Nut Plates and Rivets
(2) Remove the inlet cone, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-000-801).
(3) Remove the damaged nut plates (1) as follows:
(b) Hold the rivet (2) upset head while you drill to prevent the rivet (2) spin.
(c) If the manufactured head does not remove from the shank after you drill, increase the drill bit size in increments until the manufactured head is removed.
(d) Remove the nut plates (1).
(4) Clean the rivet (2) holes and surface withP05-017 wipers, cotton (Lint-Free) made moist with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.P11-014) or P11-078 alcohol, isopropyl .
(5) Examine the rivet (2) holes and surface below the removed nut plates (1):
(a) Do a visual inspection for cracks, delamination or surface damage.
1 No cracks, delamination or surface damage is permitted.
(6) Install the new EIPC 72-11-01-01-160 NUT PLATES (1) in the correct location on the front flange of the inlet cone as follows:
(a) Install the nut plate (1) at no more than five locations at G.
(b) Install the rivet (2) at no more than ten locations at G. Select the length as necessary from the same diameter listing on the rivet (2) inspection.
(c) Install the rivets (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-802).
(8) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION:
THIS AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANUAL REPAIR LETS YOU REPLACE ONLY THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER'S NUT PLATES AND RIVETS. IF THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE RIVET HOLES OR PARTS, THEN YOU MUST NOT DO THE REPAIR ON-WING. YOU MUST REMOVE AND REPAIR THE PART AS PER THE APPLICABLE CLEANING, INSPECTION & REPAIR MANUAL.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MACHINE THE RIVET HEAD. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE RIVET HOLE OR THE PART FROM WHICH IT IS REMOVED CAN OCCUR.
(1) Find the inlet cone located on the fan rotor. (2) Remove the inlet cone, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-000-801).
(3) Remove the damaged nut plates (1) as follows:
NOTE: If the nut plates (1) and the rivets (2) are all loose and you have access to them, replace all of them. Make sure you remove all the necessary external attachments to help in the removal and installation of the nut plates (1) and the rivets (2).
(a) Drill out the rivet (2) heads that attach the nut plates (1) to the front flange of the inlet cone (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-802). (b) Hold the rivet (2) upset head while you drill to prevent the rivet (2) spin.
(c) If the manufactured head does not remove from the shank after you drill, increase the drill bit size in increments until the manufactured head is removed.
(d) Remove the nut plates (1).
(4) Clean the rivet (2) holes and surface with
(5) Examine the rivet (2) holes and surface below the removed nut plates (1):
(a) Do a visual inspection for cracks, delamination or surface damage.
1 No cracks, delamination or surface damage is permitted.
(6) Install the new EIPC 72-11-01-01-160 NUT PLATES (1) in the correct location on the front flange of the inlet cone as follows:
(a) Install the nut plate (1) at no more than five locations at G.
(b) Install the rivet (2) at no more than ten locations at G. Select the length as necessary from the same diameter listing on the rivet (2) inspection.
(c) Install the rivets (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-802).
NOTE: Thr oversized rivets (2) are not permitted.
NOTE: You must support the composite flange when you upset the rivet (2) head. Make sure that the rivet (2) tool is positioned to prevent laminate damage around the rivet (2) hole.
(d) Examine the rivets (2) for cracks, clearance and correct installation (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-802). NOTE: If the rivets (2) are not in the above limits, remove and replace the EIPC 72-11-01-01-170 RIVETS (2) with new ones.
(7) Install the inlet cone, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-400-801). (8) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
Subtask 72-11-01-942-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Remove the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER and MAT - PROTECTIVE.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Remove the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER and MAT - PROTECTIVE.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
