A. Examine the power-plant drains tubes
(1) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION and make sure that these parts are serviceable:
(a) The lockwire.
(b) The tube connection nuts and unions.
(c) The bolts, the nuts, the clips and the brackets which attach the drain tubes to the engine.
(2) If any of the above parts are unserviceable, reject them.
(3) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to examine the connections of the drain tubes for leaks. Leaks are not permitted
(a) If leaks are found, examine the tube connection nuts for loss of torque.
(4) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION to examine the general condition of the drain tubes
(a) Examine the tubes for cracks
1 If a tube is cracked, reject it.
(b) Examine the tubes for dents.
1 Dents with smooth contours which do not decrease the diameter of the tube more than 10 percent, accept the damage.
2 Dents with sharp contours or which decrease the diameter of the tube more than 10 percent, reject the tube.
3 Dents which are more than 1 in. (25.40 mm) apart and up to 0.05 in. (1.27 mm) deep with the radius of the dent not less than 0.056 in. (1.42 mm), accept the tube.
4 Dents which are less than 1 in. (25.40 mm) apart and more than 0.05 in. (1.27 mm) deep or the radius of the dent less than 0.056 in. (1.42 mm), reject the tube.
(c) Examine the tubes for nicks, scratches, scores and fretting
1 Up to 0.014 in. (0.36 mm) in depth with smooth contours, accept the damage.
2 Damage which does not have smooth contours or is more than 0.014 in. (0.36 mm) in depth, reject the tube.
(d) Examine the support lugs of the tubes
1 If a support lug is distorted or cracked, reject the tube.
5. Close-up(1) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION and make sure that these parts are serviceable:
