Removal of the Air Intake Cowl
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL DURING THE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF THE AIR INTAKE COWL. IT WEIGHS 292 LB (132.4 KG). IF IT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-61-41-010-054-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

A. Disconnection of the Electrical Connectors
(1) Disconnect the electrical connectors (2) from the T12 sensor.
(2) In the case of the air intake cowl replacement, remove the T12 sensor to keep it with the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-15-000-801).
(3) Remove the filler plugs from the hoist points on the air intake cowl. Keep the filler plugs for the installation after you removed the air intake cowl.
Subtask 71-61-41-480-054-A (1) Disconnect the electrical connectors (2) from the T12 sensor.
(2) In the case of the air intake cowl replacement, remove the T12 sensor to keep it with the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-15-000-801).
(3) Remove the filler plugs from the hoist points on the air intake cowl. Keep the filler plugs for the installation after you removed the air intake cowl.
B. Installation of the Tooling
(1) Install the 98N7160H001-001 INLET COWL SLING on the air intake cowl (1), follow the user guide manual.
(2) Lift the 98N7160H001-001 INLET COWL SLING until it supports the air intake cowl (1) weight.

C. Removal of the Blower Duct

(1) Loosen and remove the clamp (3) from the blower duct (4).
(2) Disengage the blower duct (4) from the air intake cowl (1).

D. Removal of the Blanking Cap

(1) Loosen and remove the clamp (3) from the CAP - BLANKING (12).
(2) Remove the CAP - BLANKING (12) from the air intake cowl (1).

E. Removal of the Anti-Ice Duct
(1) Remove the two straps (5) that attach the insulation covers (6) to the anti-ice duct (7).
(2) Remove the insulation covers (6) from the anti-ice duct (7).
(3) Discard the straps (5).
(4) Remove the coupling (8) that attach the anti-ice duct (7) to the air intake cowl (1).
(5) Remove and discard the e-seal (9).
(6) Disengage the anti-ice duct (7) from the air intake cowl (1).
Subtask 71-61-41-020-055-A (1) Remove the two straps (5) that attach the insulation covers (6) to the anti-ice duct (7).
(2) Remove the insulation covers (6) from the anti-ice duct (7).
(3) Discard the straps (5).
(4) Remove the coupling (8) that attach the anti-ice duct (7) to the air intake cowl (1).
(5) Remove and discard the e-seal (9).
(6) Disengage the anti-ice duct (7) from the air intake cowl (1).
F. Disengagement of the Air Intake Cowl
(1) Remove the 36 bolts (11) and nuts (10) that attach the air intake cowl (1) to the engine flange.
Subtask 71-61-41-480-055-A (1) Remove the 36 bolts (11) and nuts (10) that attach the air intake cowl (1) to the engine flange.
CAUTION:
DURING THE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF THE AIR INTAKE COWL, MAKE SURE THAT THE TWO SPIGOTS DO NOT HIT THE ENGINE FLANGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE FLANGE AND/OR THE SPIGOTS CAN OCCUR.
(2) Pull the air intake cowl (1) forward as necessary to disengage the two spigots from the engine flange and make sure that the two spigots do not hit the engine flange.G. Installation of the Air Intake Cowl on the Dolly
(1) Put the air intake cowl (1) on the 98N7160H002-000 INLET DOLLY.
(2) Attach the air intake cowl to the 98N7160H002-000 INLET DOLLY with the bolts (11) and nuts (10).

(2) Attach the air intake cowl to the 98N7160H002-000 INLET DOLLY with the bolts (11) and nuts (10).
H. Removal of the Tooling
(1) Remove the 98N7160H001-001 INLET COWL SLING from the air intake cowl (1).

I. Installation of the Protection Covers
(1) Put COVER - PROTECTION on preformed hoses, blower duct and anti-ice duct.
