   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

4. Procedure
CAUTION: HOLD THE THRUST LINK TO PREVENT HARD CONTACT WITH THE ENGINE DURING THE STEPS THAT FOLLOW. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE (SCRATCHES) TO THE ENGINE CASE.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE GREASE OR OIL ON ANY PARTS OF THESE ASSEMBLIES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

A. Preparation before Removal
   (1) Install the 98D71203017000 THRUST LINK R/I FOR PW.
     (a) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.

B. Removal of the Forward Mount Thrust-Link
NOTE: These procedures are for the left thrust link. The right side is opposite.
   (1) Remove and discard the two cotter pins (6) and (12).
   (2) Removal of the thrust link pin on the engine intermediate case side
     (a) Remove the nut (5), screw (1) and the two washers (2) and (4).
     (b) Remove the pin (3).
     (c) Record the location of the pin (3), screw (1) and the two washers (2) and (4). Keep the record for use when you install the thrust link.
   (3) Removal of the thrust link pin on the forward mount yoke side
     (a) Remove the nut (11), screw (7) and the two washers (8) and (10).
     (b) Remove the pin (9).
     (c) Record the location of the pin (9), screw (7) and the two washers (8) and (10). Keep the record for use when you install the thrust link.
   (4) Remove the thrust link from the engine assembly. Safely support the thrust link and keep it away from the other engine components.
