B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

A. Installation of the Hold Open Rod (HOR) Brackets
(1) Install the LH HOR bracket assemblies.
(2) Install the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (2) to the A-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Clean the mating surface of the bracket assembly (2), bolts (1), washers (3) and nuts (4) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(b) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the isopropyl alcohol becomes dry.
(c) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (1), and mating surfaces of the washers (3) and nuts (4).
(d) Install the bracket assembly (2) in holes 91, 92 and 93 on the aft side of A-flange with three bolts (1), three washers (3) and three nuts (4).
(e) TORQUE the nuts (4) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
.
(f) Make sure that there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove the unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(g) Connect the forward HOR to the bracket assembly (2) on the A-flange of the engine fan case (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-08-400-801).
(3) Install the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (7) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Remove the exiting bolt (6) and nut (8) from hole 107 on the B-flange.
(b) Clean the mating surfaces of the bracket assembly (7), bolts (5) and (6), washers (10) and nuts (8) and (9) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(c) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the isopropyl alcohol becomes dry.
(d) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (5) and (6), and mating surfaces of washers (10) and nuts (8) and (9).
(e) Install the bracket assembly (7) in holes 106 and 107 on the aft side of the B-flange with the bolts (5) and (6), two washers (10) and nuts (8) and (9).
(f) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 75 and 65 lbf.in (0.85 and 0.73 m.daN )
.
(g) TORQUE the nut (9) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
.
(h) Make sure there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(4) Install the thrust reverser HOR bracket assembly (13) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Remove the existing bolt (12) and nut (14) from hole 98 on the B-flange.
(b) Clean the mating surfaces of the bracket assembly (13), bolts (11) and (12), washers (16) and nuts (14) and (15) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(c) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the isopropyl alcohol becomes dry.
(d) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (11) and (12), and mating surfaces of washers (16) and nuts (14) and (15).
(e) Install the bracket assembly (13) in holes 97 and 98 on the aft side of the B-flange with the bolts (11) and (12), two washers (16) and nuts (14) and (15).
(f) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 75 and 65 lbf.in (0.85 and 0.73 m.daN )
.
(g) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
.
(h) Make sure there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(5) Install the RH hold open rod (HOR) bracket assemblies.
(6) Install the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (27) to the A-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Clean the mating surface of the bracket assembly (27), bolts (28), washers (26) and nuts (25) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(b) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the isopropyl alcohol becomes dry.
(c) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (28), and mating surfaces of the washers (26) and nuts (25).
(d) Install the bracket assembly (27) in holes 31, 32 and 33 on the aft side of A-flange with three bolts (28), three washers (26) and three nuts (25).
(e) TORQUE the nuts (25) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
.
(f) Make sure that there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove the unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(g) Connect the forward HOR to the bracket assembly (27) on the A-flange of the engine fan case (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-08-400-801).
(7) Install the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (31) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the bracket assembly (31), bolts (32), washers (30) and nuts (29) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(b) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the isopropyl alcohol becomes dry.
(c) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (32), and mating surfaces of washers (30) and nuts (29).
(d) Install the bracket assembly (27) in holes 29 and 30 on the aft side of the B-flange with two bolts (32), two washers (30) and two nuts (29).
(e) TORQUE the nut (29) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
.
(f) Make sure there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(8) Install the thrust reverser HOR bracket assembly (33) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the bracket assembly (31), bolts (32), washers (30) and nuts (29) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(b) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the isopropyl alcohol becomes dry.
(c) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (32), and mating surfaces of washers (30) and nuts (29).
(d) Install the bracket assembly (33) in holes 37 and 38 on the aft side of the B-flange with two bolts (32), two washers (30) and two nuts (29).
(e) TORQUE the nut (29) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
.
(f) Make sure there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
5. Close-up(1) Install the LH HOR bracket assemblies.
(2) Install the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (2) to the A-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Clean the mating surface of the bracket assembly (2), bolts (1), washers (3) and nuts (4) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Remove
(c) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (1), and mating surfaces of the washers (3) and nuts (4).
(d) Install the bracket assembly (2) in holes 91, 92 and 93 on the aft side of A-flange with three bolts (1), three washers (3) and three nuts (4).
(e) TORQUE the nuts (4) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
. (f) Make sure that there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove the unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(g) Connect the forward HOR to the bracket assembly (2) on the A-flange of the engine fan case (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-08-400-801).
(3) Install the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (7) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Remove the exiting bolt (6) and nut (8) from hole 107 on the B-flange.
(b) Clean the mating surfaces of the bracket assembly (7), bolts (5) and (6), washers (10) and nuts (8) and (9) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(c) Remove
(d) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (5) and (6), and mating surfaces of washers (10) and nuts (8) and (9).
(e) Install the bracket assembly (7) in holes 106 and 107 on the aft side of the B-flange with the bolts (5) and (6), two washers (10) and nuts (8) and (9).
(f) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 75 and 65 lbf.in (0.85 and 0.73 m.daN )
. (g) TORQUE the nut (9) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
. (h) Make sure there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(4) Install the thrust reverser HOR bracket assembly (13) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Remove the existing bolt (12) and nut (14) from hole 98 on the B-flange.
(b) Clean the mating surfaces of the bracket assembly (13), bolts (11) and (12), washers (16) and nuts (14) and (15) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(c) Remove
(d) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (11) and (12), and mating surfaces of washers (16) and nuts (14) and (15).
(e) Install the bracket assembly (13) in holes 97 and 98 on the aft side of the B-flange with the bolts (11) and (12), two washers (16) and nuts (14) and (15).
(f) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 75 and 65 lbf.in (0.85 and 0.73 m.daN )
. (g) TORQUE the nut (15) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
. (h) Make sure there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(5) Install the RH hold open rod (HOR) bracket assemblies.
(6) Install the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (27) to the A-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Clean the mating surface of the bracket assembly (27), bolts (28), washers (26) and nuts (25) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Remove
(c) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (28), and mating surfaces of the washers (26) and nuts (25).
(d) Install the bracket assembly (27) in holes 31, 32 and 33 on the aft side of A-flange with three bolts (28), three washers (26) and three nuts (25).
(e) TORQUE the nuts (25) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
. (f) Make sure that there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove the unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(g) Connect the forward HOR to the bracket assembly (27) on the A-flange of the engine fan case (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-08-400-801).
(7) Install the fan cowl HOR bracket assembly (31) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the bracket assembly (31), bolts (32), washers (30) and nuts (29) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Remove
(c) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (32), and mating surfaces of washers (30) and nuts (29).
(d) Install the bracket assembly (27) in holes 29 and 30 on the aft side of the B-flange with two bolts (32), two washers (30) and two nuts (29).
(e) TORQUE the nut (29) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
. (f) Make sure there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(8) Install the thrust reverser HOR bracket assembly (33) to the B-flange of the engine fan case.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the bracket assembly (31), bolts (32), washers (30) and nuts (29) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Remove
(c) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) under the head of the bolts (32), and mating surfaces of washers (30) and nuts (29).
(d) Install the bracket assembly (33) in holes 37 and 38 on the aft side of the B-flange with two bolts (32), two washers (30) and two nuts (29).
(e) TORQUE the nut (29) to between 90 and 76 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.86 m.daN )
. (f) Make sure there is sufficient sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) on the mating surfaces. Remove unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
