A. Do an inspection of the oil filler door latches.
(1) Close the oil filler access door (1) and make sure that the four latches are latched correctly and that the oil filler access door is flush with the fan cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-14-410-801). See the sheet 2 of the figure
(2) Do a check of the tension on the trigger of each of the four latches:
(a) Open the latch trigger and measure the tension value on each latch trigger with a digital force measurement instrument (2). See the sheet 3 of the figure
(c) If the tension value on all four latches is in the permitted range then go to step 4 B.(3).
Subtask 71-13-14-820-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Close the oil filler access door (1) and make sure that the four latches are latched correctly and that the oil filler access door is flush with the fan cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-14-410-801). See the sheet 2 of the figure
(2) Do a check of the tension on the trigger of each of the four latches:
(a) Open the latch trigger and measure the tension value on each latch trigger with a digital force measurement instrument (2). See the sheet 3 of the figure
NOTE: Make sure that the tension measurement is done at the correct location on top of the trigger.
NOTE: Make sure that the tension is the maximum value just before the fully closed position. This is to prevent a false tension value that may be measured after the latch clicks into the fully closed position.
(b) Make sure that the tension value on all four latches is between 23 lbf (10.23 daN) and 27 lbf (12.01 daN). If the tension value for one or more latches is not in the permitted range, then go to step 4 B. and rig the oil filler door latches again. (c) If the tension value on all four latches is in the permitted range then go to step 4 B.(3).
B. Rig the oil filler door latches.
(1) Open the four latches on the oil filler access door (1). See the sheet 4 of the figure
(2) For each latch that needs to be rigged, do the steps that follow:
(b) Make sure that the latch mechanism can move freely before you adjust the height of the adjustment screw (5).
(c) Loosen the jam nut (3).
(d) Set the height of the adjustment screw (5) until the tension value on the latch trigger is between 23 lbf (10.23 daN) and 27 lbf (12.01 daN). See the sheet 4 of the figure
(e) Tighten the jam nut (3) with your hand after the adjustment screw (5) is set, to make sure the position does not change when you measure the latch tension.
(f) Close the oil filler access door (1) and make sure that the four latches are latched correctly and that the oil filler access door is flush with the fan cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-14-410-801). See the sheet 2 of the figure
(g) Open the latch trigger and measure the tension value on the latch trigger with a digital force measurement instrument (2).
1 Make sure that the tension value is between 23 lbf (10.23 daN) and 27 lbf (12.01 daN). See the sheet 3 of the figure
(h) If the tension is not correct then open the oil filler door and do steps 4B. (2)(c) thru (g) again.
(4) Do a final latch tension check on all four latches and make sure that the tension value is between 23 lbf (10.23 daN) and 27 lbf (12.01 daN).
(a) If one tension is not correct on one of the four latches then open the oil filler door and do steps 4.B.(2)(c) thru (2)(h) again. See the sheet 3 of the figure
Subtask 71-13-14-220-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the four latches on the oil filler access door (1). See the sheet 4 of the figure
(2) For each latch that needs to be rigged, do the steps that follow:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Cut and remove the lockwire that locks the jam nut (3) to the latch (4).
NOTE: Make sure that the tension measurement is done at the correct location on top of the trigger. See the sheet 3 of the figure
NOTE: Make sure that the tension is the maximum value just before the fully closed position. This is to prevent a false tension value that can be measured after the latch clicks to the fully closed position.
NOTE: It is recommended that the mid to upper limit of the specified tension range between 23 lbf (10.23 daN) and 27 lbf (12.01 daN) is applied when you rig the latches as tension may decrease during the rigging process.
(3) Make sure that the oil filler door is closed (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-14-410-801).
NOTE: It is necessary to perform this final check with the oil filler door closed and the four latches correctly latched as well as the fan cowl door closed and latched.
C. Do a check for intermediate latch position. See the sheet 2 of the figure
(1) For each of the four latches do a check to find if there is an intermediate latch position:
(a) Open the latch trigger and lightly push the latch until it is almost closed then release the trigger. The latch must go back to the fully open position.
(b) If the latch goes back to an intermediate position, contact UTAS:
