Installation of the Fan-Cowl Door Latch
1. Reason for the Job
NOTE: SBN71-0331 (equivalent to Airbus service bulletin SB 71-1069) introduces a lockable latch in the forward position (latch No. 1) that must be opened and closed and locked with a key and flag assembly. The key and flag assembly are stowed in the cockpit and must not be used if there is damage to the key or flag.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

A. Installation of the Latch in the Latch Housing
PRE SBN71-0256
(1) Install the latches (5) and the anti-swivel plates (4) on the latch housings (6) in the correct position for installation with the pins (3) and collars (2).
(2) Safety the pins (3) with a new AIPC 71-13-13-81-040 SPLIT PIN (1).

(3) Install the latches 1 and 2 (5) and the anti-swivel plates (7) on the latch housings (6) in the correct position for installation with the pins (3) and collars (2).
(4) Install the latches 3 and 4 (5) and the anti-swivel plates (8) on the latch housings (6) in the correct position for installation with the pins (3) and collars (2).
(5) Safety the pins (3) with a new AIPC 71-13-13-81-040 SPLIT PIN (1).

(6) Install the lockable latch No. 1 (5) and the anti-swivel plate (8) on the latch housing (6) in the correct position for installation with the pin (3) and the collar (2).
(8) Install the latches No. 3 and 4 (5) and the anti-swivel plates (4) on the latch housings (6) in the correct position for installation with the pins (3) and the collars (2).
(9) Do a check of the in-to or out-of wind step of the latch handles (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-012).

(1) Install the latches (5) and the anti-swivel plates (4) on the latch housings (6) in the correct position for installation with the pins (3) and collars (2).
(2) Safety the pins (3) with a new AIPC 71-13-13-81-040 SPLIT PIN (1).

(3) Install the latches 1 and 2 (5) and the anti-swivel plates (7) on the latch housings (6) in the correct position for installation with the pins (3) and collars (2).
(4) Install the latches 3 and 4 (5) and the anti-swivel plates (8) on the latch housings (6) in the correct position for installation with the pins (3) and collars (2).
(5) Safety the pins (3) with a new AIPC 71-13-13-81-040 SPLIT PIN (1).

(6) Install the lockable latch No. 1 (5) and the anti-swivel plate (8) on the latch housing (6) in the correct position for installation with the pin (3) and the collar (2).
NOTE: The lockable latch (5) must be installed in the number 1 position with the correct keeper (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-13-400-804). Do not install the lockable latch unless there is a key and flag assembly available on the aircraft.
(7) Install the latch No. 2 (5) and the anti-swivel plate (7) on the latch housing (6) in the correct position for installation with the pin (3) and the collar (2). (8) Install the latches No. 3 and 4 (5) and the anti-swivel plates (4) on the latch housings (6) in the correct position for installation with the pins (3) and the collars (2).
(9) Do a check of the in-to or out-of wind step of the latch handles (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-012).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(3) Do a check of the latch tension (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-010).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(3) Do a check of the latch tension (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-800-010).
