Installation of the Forward Fan Cowl Hold Open Rod
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS WHEN THE FAN COWLS AND THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE OPEN. IF YOU DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-13-12-010-062-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Get access to fan cowl doors.
(2) Make sure that the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE is installed and that the lift slings support the fan cowl door weight.
(3) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

4. Procedure(1) Get access to fan cowl doors.
(2) Make sure that the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE is installed and that the lift slings support the fan cowl door weight.
(3) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

A. Installation of the Forward Fan-Cowl Hold-Open-Rod (HOR)
(1) Put the forward HOR (1) or (12) in position in the fan cowl-door fitting.
(2) Install the bolt (3) or (13), plain bush (2) or (14), washer (4) or (15) and nut (5) or (16).
(3) TORQUE the nut (5) or (16) to between 1.79 and 1.38 m.daN (13.20 and 10.18 lbf.ft )

(4) Secure the nuts (5) or (16):
(5) Put the forward HOR (1) or (12) in position in the engine fitting.
(6) Install the bolt (7), plain bush (8), washer (9) and nut (10).
(7) TORQUE the nut (10) to between 1.79 and 1.38 m.daN (13.20 and 10.18 lbf.ft )

(8) Secure the nut (10):
Subtask 71-13-12-080-055-A (1) Put the forward HOR (1) or (12) in position in the fan cowl-door fitting.
(2) Install the bolt (3) or (13), plain bush (2) or (14), washer (4) or (15) and nut (5) or (16).
(3) TORQUE the nut (5) or (16) to between 1.79 and 1.38 m.daN (13.20 and 10.18 lbf.ft )
. (4) Secure the nuts (5) or (16):
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(a) Secure the nut (5) or (16) with new AIPC 71-13-10-10-720 COTTER PIN (6) or new AIPC 71-13-11-10-130 COTTER PIN (17). (5) Put the forward HOR (1) or (12) in position in the engine fitting.
(6) Install the bolt (7), plain bush (8), washer (9) and nut (10).
(7) TORQUE the nut (10) to between 1.79 and 1.38 m.daN (13.20 and 10.18 lbf.ft )
. (8) Secure the nut (10):
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(a) Secure the nut (10) with new AIPC 78-32-80-02-030 COTTER PIN (11). B. Removal of the Tooling
(1) If removed, put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(2) Remove the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE from the universal attach pad.
(3) Remove the universal attach pad from the hoist points of the fan cowl door.
Subtask 71-13-12-420-060-A (1) If removed, put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(2) Remove the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE from the universal attach pad.
(3) Remove the universal attach pad from the hoist points of the fan cowl door.
C. Installation of the Filler Plugs
(1) Install the filler plugs in the upper hoist points.
(2) TORQUE to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
.
(3) Install the filler plugs in the lower hoist points.
(4) TORQUE to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
.
(5) Brush seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.CPNCL00338) .
(6) Remove unwanted sealant with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
5. Close-up(1) Install the filler plugs in the upper hoist points.
(2) TORQUE to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (3) Install the filler plugs in the lower hoist points.
(4) TORQUE to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (5) Brush seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.CPNCL00338) .
(6) Remove unwanted sealant with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
