4. ProcedureSubtask 71-00-00-869-439-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do these procedures as necessary:
1 Quickly and immediately move the throttle control lever to the idle position.
2 On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, set the ENG/MASTER 1(2) switch to the OFF position.
3 On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, set the ENG/MODE/CRANK/NORM/IGN/START selector switch to the CRANK position.
4 On overhead CTL & IND panel 22VU, push the ENG/MAN START/1(2) pushbutton switch.
5 Ignore the starter time limits and dry-motor the engine until you remove all indications related to fire.
6 When the fire is extinguished (and the ground crew confirms this):
a On overhead CTL & IND panel 22VU, release the ENG/MAN START/1(2) pushbutton switch.
b On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, set the ENG/MODE/CRANK/NORM/IGN/START selector switch to the NORM position.
7 If the engine motoring does not extinguish the fire or if the engine motoring is not possible:
a On the overhead panel, on ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD, push the ENG 1(2) FIRE pushbutton switch to close the LP shut-off valve, and
b Extinguish the fire with the ground equipment.
(2) External engine fire
1 Move the throttle control levers of the engine 1 and 2 to the idle stop position (zero on the graduated sector).
2 On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, set the ENG/MASTER 1(2) switch to the OFF position.
3 On the overhead panel, on ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD, push the ENG 1(2) FIRE pushbutton switch:
a The SQUIB legends of the applicable AGENT 1 and AGENT 2 pushbutton switches come on.
b The audio warning stops.
4 On the overhead panel, on ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD, push the AGENT 1 and AGENT 2 pushbutton switches:
a After some seconds, the DISCH legends of the pushbutton switches come on.
(b) If this procedure does not completely stop the fire, request for fire brigade assistance.
(c) If the fire occurs in the fan zone when the fan cowl doors are open, speak to the approved person before you use the fire extinguishers that are on the ground.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
TRY TO EXTINGUISH INTERNAL FIRES BY MOTORING THE ENGINE FIRST. USE FIRE EXTINGUISHING AGENTS ONLY WHEN MOTORING DOES NOT WORK. IF EXTINGUISHING AGENTS ARE USED, A MAJOR INSPECTION CAN BE NECESSARY.
(1) Internal engine fireNOTE: There is a possible internal engine fire (post-shutdown burning) when the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) does not decrease after you set the ENG MASTER 1(2) control switch to the OFF position.
(a) When an internal engine fire occurs during the ground operation, do this procedure:1 Quickly and immediately move the throttle control lever to the idle position.
4 On overhead CTL & IND panel 22VU, push the ENG/MAN START/1(2) pushbutton switch.

b On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, set the ENG/MODE/CRANK/NORM/IGN/START selector switch to the NORM position.
NOTE: The warnings that follow operate when there is an external engine fire:
- On the overhead panel, on ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD, the ENG 1(2) FIRE legend of the pushbutton switch comes on.
- The continuous repetitive chime operates.
- The MASTER WARN lights come on.
- On the upper ECAM Display Unit (DU), a message and the applicable procedure come into view.
- On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU, the applicable FIRE legend comes on.

(b) If this procedure does not completely stop the fire, request for fire brigade assistance.
(c) If the fire occurs in the fan zone when the fan cowl doors are open, speak to the approved person before you use the fire extinguishers that are on the ground.
NOTE: The aircraft fire extinguishers do not have a sufficient effect on fire when the fan cowls are open or removed.
(d) If you used the nacelle fire-extinguisher bottles, replace them (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 26-21-41-400-001).Subtask 71-00-00-210-134-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
