A. Safety Precautions
(1) The wind direction and velocity can make the engine not stable. Make sure that the engine is operated with the intake pointed into the wind (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-910-804).
(2) Install the 98F10103500000 CHOCK-MLG,ENGINE RUN-UP.
(3) There must be two qualified persons in the cockpit when performing an engine run above idle. One must monitor the outside and the aircraft behaviour while the other performs the engine test.
(4) If the aircraft begins to move while performing an engine run, immediately set all the thrust levers to idle position.
(5) On the landing gear control and indicating panel 402VU:
(a) Make sure that the A/SKID and N/WSTRG selector switch 5GG is ON.
(6) On the RUD TRIM/PARKING BRK panel 110VU:
(a) Make sure that the parking brake control switch is set to ON.
(7) On the air conditioning panel 30VU, make sure that the engine bleed valves are off (the OFF legend is on).

A. For engine operation at 35 percent N1, 50 percent N1, or 60 percent N1 perform the following:
(1) Start the tested engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-823).
(4) For the engine being tested, do a slow acceleration to 35 percent N1, 50 percent N1 or 60 percent N1 and let the engine become stable for five minutes.
(5) Decelerate slowly to idle power and let the engine become stable for ten minutes.
Subtask 71-00-00-710-268-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Start the tested engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-823).
NOTE: This is the recommended start method for normal conditions.
(2) As an option, start the engine by the manual start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-822). NOTE: It is recommended to use the manual start procedure at all high altitude airports.
NOTE: It is recommended that you use the manual start procedure for starts with low starter air pressure supply (external pneumatic power source).
(3) Make sure the engine temperature becomes stable for five minutes at minimum idle. (4) For the engine being tested, do a slow acceleration to 35 percent N1, 50 percent N1 or 60 percent N1 and let the engine become stable for five minutes.
(5) Decelerate slowly to idle power and let the engine become stable for ten minutes.
B. For engine operation at 80 percent N1, perform the following:
(1) Make sure that a total of 6614 lb (3000.06 kg) (minimum) of fuel are in inner tanks.
(3) Make sure the engine temperature becomes stable for five minutes at minimum idle.
(4) For the engine NOT being tested, do a slow acceleration to 50 percent N1.
(5) Push and hold the brake pedals at the full limit position.
(6) On the RUD TRIM/PARKING BRK panel 110VU:
(a) Make sure that the parking brake control switch is set to ON.
(7) For the engine being tested, do a 30 second acceleration from idle to 80 percent N1 and hold for a maximum of ten seconds.
(a) Release the brake pedals.
(b) Let both engines become stable for ten minutes.
Subtask 71-00-00-860-245-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that a total of 6614 lb (3000.06 kg) (minimum) of fuel are in inner tanks.
NOTE: This minimum fuel quantity does not include the fuel consumption of the engines necessary to do the test. This minimum quantity must stay in the inner tanks at the end of the test.
(2) Start both engines (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-823) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-822).
NOTE: Speed will not be a constant rate with constant throttle movement by rating flats.
(8) Decelerate slowly both engines to idle power: (a) Release the brake pedals.
(b) Let both engines become stable for ten minutes.
C. Ground Scanning Report
(1) Shut down both engines (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-814).
